Found this poem in one of your daily newspapers, don't know who the author is, its called "The Good Old Days".

We,we married,a long time ago, He worked for long hours and wages were low.

No telly, no radio, no bath, times were hard.

Just a cold water tap and a walk up the yard.

No holidays abroad, no carpets on floors.

We had coal on the fire - we never locked doors.

Our children arrivied - no Pill in those days.

And we brought them up without the state aid.

No Valium, no drugs, no LSD.

We cured our pains with a good cup of tea.

If you were sick, you were treated at once.

Not "fill up a form and come back next month".

No vandals, no muggings, there was nowt to rob.

If you were rich with a couple of bob.

People were happier in those far - off days.

Kinder and caring in so many ways.

Milkman and paper boys would whistle and sing.

And a night out at the flicks, a wonderful thing.

Oh, we had our share of troubles and strife.

But we had to face it, that was life.

But now I'm alone, and look back through the years.

I don't think of bad times, the troubles and tears.

I remember the blessings, our home and love.

We share them together, and I thank God.

What memories do you treasure and would like to keep.

<br>Sheltering under the stairs aged approx. 5 years old with my mother and younger sister when it was thundering and lightening. My dad was away on the trawlers.

Sleeping at my grandma and pa's home two doors down from where we lived whilst my mother was giving birth to my sister. Two up two down. No upstairs heating and an outside toilet. Happy days. I can still picture it now, No longer there. A car park for the local infirmary. Crying or Very sad

Backyard cricket with your Dad is the best! Well... except for beach cricket.

My backyard was always rather overgrown though, which meant we went through about 6 tennis balls for every match. Great memories though.

Beach cricket was probably even better.
