We found a kitten in the yard today in the blazing sun, on her back, obviously hyperthermic, hyperventilating, and about 4 weeks old. We got her out of the sun, cleaned her off a bit, and she started coming back to life. Something had torn her up a bit. No idea how she got there. Animal Control came and promised they would take her to an on call Vet.
Meanwhile, my idiot neighbor locks his barking dogs in a tiny kennel, and ignores them. I'm going to kick his ass. |

While you're at it, can you work in Michael Vick?
Good work with the kitty. Hope it finds a nice home. |

I'm just glad that the little kitty found your place Joe. There's no better person to come to their rescue than you.
When you read of the things that are done to some animals these days it makes you wonder what the mentality of some people is.
Some people should never be allowed to have pets, or at least they should have to show that they will look after them. I volunteer with my young daughter at the animal shelter and it is heart wrenching to see some of the animals brought in.
I find it hard not to bring my work home with me sometimes. |

Glad you found the kitten in time!
It makes me sick when people don't take care of their pets. Why have them at all if they're just going to ignore them?
I had a neighbor a long time ago who offered to take care of my parrot for a week while I was away visiting relatives, absolutely convinced that all she would need to do was set him aside with his cage left closed and feed him every now and then. Since it is not unusual for parrots to self-mutilate in conditions like that (especially African Greys), we instead went to the extra trouble of taking him with us. |

The more I see of the general public, the more I like animals. I'll keep you posted if possible. |

Hi Joe, good to hear the kitten found your home I hate how some people treat their animals. I love animals, that is why I do not have pets at the moment. I wish more people thought that way. There is no way I have time to walk the dog and be a good owner with my schedule, so I do not adopt a dog. Much better solution that keeping them locked in a little kennel in the burning sun all day I guess some folks do not think when they invite a pet into their house. Loads of animals left in the wild these days, simply because their owners want to go on holiday. It pisses me off. |

God bless you for taking the time to save that kitty. How is it doing?
Proud owner (or should I say slave) to numerous kitties and several dogs myself.
I will never understand why people don't get their pets spayed or neutered. |

So good to know there's people like you around JT
I spent this afternoon at my local SPCA, I'm kind of looking for a dog. I say 'kind of' because I had my beloved Rottie for 11 years and swore I wouldn't get another dog when she died, but 7 years down the line I feel ready.
I haven't as yet found a dog I feel's right, so donated $300 from my lotto winnings!
The lady at the SPCA told me some of the horror stories behind the dogs there. I could cry.
I have never yet adopted a pet that wasn't either abandoned or had a bad start in life.
Couold you adopt the little mite Joe? |

^^^ Not sure. Shame on me, i still need to call the animal control folks. I just love animals. Our new chihuahua pup sleeps under the blankets. That's gonna be nice this winter! Don't know if I could fit another animal in the house though. I have 2 territorial cats, and 2 Boxers, and the Chihuahua. |

^^^ Do what I do....If the Authorities have any problem rehoming your kitten, let them know you will. That way, if the right home comes along then great, if not, the kitty was meant to be a member of your family |

Good job taking care of the kitten Joe, that is how I got my kitty. Someone dumped her by my apartment at the time. She is now 8 years old.
I have seen so many people dump animals off in areas, that really pisses me off. I don't understand what they are even thinking, it would be more humane to shoot them. If they don't get taken in by a family, which most don't, they will probably starve to death or die of heat exhaustion. Where I live they are also at risk of being eaten by coyotes, mountain lions, bobcats, hawks, eagles, and black bears. What is sad is that there are plenty of Vets or even Animal control who will take the animals in and find a home for them. Sorry to rant a bit there, just my two cents. |

Great news! a foster family took her in, and they adopted her! She'll have a good home! They are still bottle feeding her now, as she was so young. I'm a bit happy, misty eyed. |

You did a wonderful thing taking that kitty in and making sure it was nursed back to health! Kudos to you and I'm so glad that kitty will have a good life after having such a rough start in the world. |
