How do we know scammers aren't registering on this site and using all this great information?

We do get the occasional scammer here, but our mods have psychic powers and most are shown the door fairly quickly. Wink

For the most part, it isn't a problem. Most scammers are far too busy sending out formats and controlling "jobs" to waste their time reading this site. What we do here is completely beyond the understanding of 99.9% of scammers, as they do not get why a bunch of people would volunteer their time to do this without getting paid. The ones that so "get it" somewhat call us "jokers", but they still don't understand our motives.

I am sure a few do. However, this forum isn't going to help a scammer that much I wouldn't think and if anything is going to freak him out about how many people are out there scam-baiting.

That's why we make sure all passports have "fake" written across them and other things like that. Genuine concern though, perhaps the mods/admin keep a close eye on visitors with Nigerian IPs... I really don't know.

Thank you that makes me feel better. What I didn't know and I just learned the hard way is. I was on a site which reports scammers. I didn't know the forums were unprotected. I posted some information about two scammers I met on a dating site. If these lads are smart and they google my user name from the dating site, it will lead them to that site, because I registered with the same username. How stupid was that...Wait let me answer that........VERY.....

Don't take any notice MidNight. The Mods have a policy of tough love but they mean it in a totally caring way (except KD). It's good that you asked the question so others new members can benefit too.

I suspect your common lad isn't smarter than the average bear. He probably wouldn't understand half the "tools" at a baiters disposal that are linked to openly here. To be perfectly honest, neither do I, and I still use my fingers to count as well!

No, that's probably just a throttling you can feel.

I agree with gnasher, there is no such thing as a daft question (and God knows I've asked a lot of those). It only helps the new members (of which I'm still one) understand things better, and quicker.

A good throttling never hurt anyone, and could be fun in certain circumstances.

I really did think it was a good question. I know others have thought about that question. I've always had this problem; a thought enters my head, and instantly, it's out my mouth. Or in this case, my fingertips.

We do get lads browsing the forums occasionally. Some have even registered and posted (these are the ones that last about a dozen posts and help everyone raise their postcount) Laughing

They are easily spotted.

The quieter ones...do a quick perusal...realise there is no money to be made and then disappear. For this reason we try to keep all the sensitive stuff behind a log in and as someone pointed out, make the items worth pinching useless to them.

We also have a couple of Mods with noses like you wouldn't believe...that lurk around and are fantastic at sniffing out any unwanted guests. As for the rest of the MOD team...we mainly spend our time watching your backs and believe it or not...keeping you safe. Wink

Cherri, you and the rest do a wonderful job. You have always been patient with me when I mess up, which is at least once a day. And my mentor, is very smart and a very nice person. Really has been a nice experience. Have I kissed up enough? Laughing
