Sorry BC but I am going to play a little bit of devil's advocate here. You know where I stand though because of the pm's. I just want to respond to a few things here.

This is more of an issue of policy or perceived policy. When a new member joins and sees a Mod (no offense to any Mods you know I love you) or an older member of the board posting off topic, then they will perceive this as ok. Lately there has been a crackdown on this though and it should filter itself out.

I understand what you are saying here, but isn't the problem about the path the PWT took all of our fault? Couldn't anyone one of us start a subject on the thread and take it the way we wanted too, wasn't that the point? If you found it boring, who's fault was it? Why didn't you drive it back the way you wanted it to go? Instead you and others left, I am really not trying to offend anyone here, but you left it. So it grew the way the people posting in it wanted it too. Now it is offensive and boring and what not. Pictures were posted because no one told them not too, and in reality people asked for them and it also became to be seen as accepted. If it wasn't suppose to be that way then why did no one say anything until the end?

I just have to reiterate my last few comments. The PWT went in the direction of those that posted in it. If this wasn't the way you wanted it to go, then you needed to guide it. Apparently there were plenty of people that thought this way, you could have easily changed it the way you wanted.

That is just my two cents, take it for what it is worth. Smile

The original PWT rocked the house, but people complained about that as well. When people appear to be here only for the post-whoring, others start to notice.

We should come here primarily to learn how to bait and share our baiting information. Secondly, being social animals (except for Callum Wink

) we will socialize as we've all developed web- (and some real) friendships from Eater, plus this is generally a fun place.

However, in case no one has noticed, there are roughly 19 other websites on "the internet" where you can find women (and men) in various states of undress (I counted). Some even have forums you can join (I asked).

Go forth and bait -- you just might like it.

I Dont normally even look in this thread but by chance I came accross this topic.

I have worked in the construction industry for over 20 years and we all know how offended those in that industry can be by swearing and pictures of scantilly clad women.

As a newer member I have learnt where the boundaries are by seeing what others with more experience are posting and I beleive I have been well inside those boundaries.

I dont care myself how vulgar or crude the posts, or how naked the pictures get but a good point was raised, there will be people visiting here from time to time who have come to see what good is being done by a very special group known as scambaiters who are donating time and resources to promote awareness of scammers, waste the time and resources of scammers and prevent real people from becoming victims of scammers and all with little or no recognition for the good work they are doing, it would be a real shame if those visitors left this site with an impression less than which is deserved.

I dont think we need Mod intervention, just an awareness of what impression this site could give to those who wish to come here and help with this worthy cause, we dont want to turn away potential, perhaps more prudish baiters who may be offended by what is posted, just as we dont want to turn away the more outgoing people by making it a prude only site.

For those who wish to see pictures or jokes of a more adult nature they can be easily found elsewhere by doing a quick google search, I may even do that myself when I finish this post.

One last thing for Nurse nasty, I know you wont change your avatar for the likes of me or anybody else and nor should you

I find it funny that our International Scamfighting Syndicate is quabbling over the Right to proclaim Obnoxious Nonsense in Specially Designated Forum Area's.

I don't usually visit General Chat, but if I see an general thread remotely make sense I'll stop have a read. I had no clue what was happening in or around the PWT. I understood that it was taken over by a small group of paosters and stopped making anything near sense before I arrived on the board.

Ask yourself:
- Is my post making any sense?
- Does my reply offer any significant advice or help contribute to the conversation in any fashion?
- Is my post not offensive to a certain group on the forum?

If you can answer any of these questions with no, don't post.

I'm quite suprised about notion that the PWT is needed to keep the PW's in check. If you have an insatiable urge to post nonsense on messageboards, please don't do it here.

That's very true JM. I think that's when things went downhill. People only contributing in the PWT and doing very little of what we are here for.
The PWT was a nice thread to go to once a day, hang out and shoot the breeze. All of them baited. It soon became the only place some members posted in.

I'm sure we'll have another in the future, as I think it is needed for people to have somewhere fun and to keep the pw stuff out of other threads.

I am not 13 years old, it is not a problem of 'what about the kids visiting the forum?' Quite frankly, if you can deal with those scammers, you will probably be old enough to deal with those PWT pictures.

However, I wonder if some people here use the forum to get their own fix of attention. General chat is general chat, a place where we share tidbits of our own personal lives, things that affect us, or shocked us or made us laugh. It is a great way to see a bit more of each other, to get to know the people here and to create a sense of community. It is not a place to alienate people from that community.

It is in fact a trend you can see throughout the forum, not just general chat or the PWT. Some people have raised the question on the purpose of the PWT (where do I post my nonsense now??). I think those people should consider registering at another forum. If the reason you signed up for Eater is the PWT, you probably have missed the point.

Just to make sure: a bit of friendly banter is more than welcome, I am sure we all agree on that. Not every post needs to be baiting related (otherwise I would be a in great trouble!). This is basically a question of how to deal with each other, with all our different points of views and backgrounds.

EDIT: I know that was a long read, but can I just add a minor note that I highlighted Ook's post because I agree with what he said, not because I am attacking him in any way. Sorry Ook, should have made that clear from the start Embarassed

I think the problem (if it is a problem) stems from how some members perceive post count.

This is the first forum I've ever belonged to, and the one by which I judge others. I am given to understand that other forums place a premium on how many times one has posted before that person is accepted in that community.

If this is true, it is the stupidest damn thing I've ever heard of....short of sending a lad cash to enhance your bait or teasing him with your valid CC information.

If it were up to me nobody would have a post count indicator under the avatar; it would just state join date.

There are quite a few members here who have a lot of posts that I wouldn't pay attention to other than the fact that I have to read what they said to make sure they aren't getting squirrelly.

I've said this before, but I like repeating myself:

If you are one of those that posts just for the sake of posting and thinks that the count increase will have an impact on your standing here, I'd encourage you to stop- We Don't Care.

What you have to say is more important than how many times you have said something.

Later today I will start deleting posts from the PWT until I can get it down to a manageable size so that I can delete the whole thread at once. This will keep Leccy from tracking me down and killing me, since he has access to my IP.

Yanno. If people are worried about their post count there is a real easy, respectable way of getting it to jump.

Go to the Surplus Letters forum and post your unwanted scam letters there. It's how I ended up with my ridiculously high post count with this account.

By doing that, you're getting your post count up and doing something useful for the whole baiting community.

I think we could solve the post-count-status issue by letting everyone edit their own post counts. If everyone could adjust their post counts to reflect how many useful posts they feel they have contributed, post count would soon be even less meaningful than pink ponies.

For the record, I wouldn't count this one.

it looks like this thread is now losin the plot and were is a mod now to lock it for good.

joking...really i am.

PWT was fun and the content an avvys were IMHO ok,but there is other pictures on this site that can offend.its all down to the individuals taste really.
as for the content of some of the threads and postings there is a button one can press to draw the attention of a mod for you to discuss this.

we have various rules and reg's here on eater and we all enjoy the freedom to post.sometimes one can be quite restricted to what you can post here but still we have a very enjoyable forum.

we need the freedom to post on everyday subjects to entertain and enlighten others as this is the internet and we all live in a corner of the world.what brings us all together is scambaiting.

Gladly. No problem at all.

My location therefore reflects in some small way, in my opinion, the spirt of commeradiere that can be found in these forums, my own sense of humour, and that of other members. That's a hell of a lot easier than explaining why someone would be walking through puddles of sperm don't you think?

Thoughts and opinions is what we are getting, awareness has been raised, and as mature individuals we can all draw our own conclusions. The PWT did seem to get out of hand, I was away for the last 2 weeks but it did seem to be losing it a bit before then.
Yes to the allowing of general discussion
No to the debacle that the PWT became, I much prefer the threads that have a topic and stay there.
No to the post count. I would like to see the mods 'monitoring' posts and 'promoting' posters when it is perceived that they are felt to be worthy, that would allow newbies the ability to see who is of quality, the downside being of course, those in the background doing sterling work but post only very infrequently.
I don't think Callum was getting insensitive, by reading through this thread it does seem that most, if not all, are in agreement.

Well done Callum for bringing the subject up. (doing what it says in his job title)

^^^Could only be bothered to read few a couple of threads....Apart from being the most boring place on earth....?

For me, yes the PWT became like 6th form colledge and, to be fair, a little clicky, but I've seen far more 'offensive' posts from older members.
Eg. (And no offence meant whatsoever YW, I am in awe of what you do) but, avatars with 'Flying Twat circus' slapped accross them? I hate the word twat. It's as offensive as the "C' word. But, I understand the site I am on.
I do believe alot of the threads in the main scambaiting forum could be counted as offensive.(I recently read somewhere about a certain puddle on a floor. Not nice.)
(I am SP's biggest fan, but recent photo's of a certain lads privates made me wanna hurl)

Scambaiting is the reason I came here in the first place, but the banter and comradery is the reason I stay.

I say, keep the PWT. If one doesn't like it, then either don't go there, or post something you do like!

I agree totally with persephone about some of the AVs. I had a year or so away from the eater and found when I returned that a lot of them are now just boobies or buns. I do a lot of my forum browsing at lunchtime and often now have to move the page over so that all the AVs are hidden off the left side of the screen, which is a pain as it means I can't see who has made the post.

Just my opinion, but introducing a rule that AVs should be wearing something more than a bikini would help.

This thread distresses me in that it implies, as the Director of Morality of the site, I'm not doing a very good job Wink

. I like the PW thread because it makes me laugh and lets me know there are people out there with mental issues similar to my own. Once in a while, as you all know by now, I feel the need to start my own goofy threads - I do this for two reasons 1) to keep the mods on their toes (they're all a bunch of slackers) and 2) To make sure the vital information I pass along is actually read! It's all about me, you know. Bottom line- when one or more of the mods contact me and ask me to alter my language or take off a risque photo - I do it, quickly, and no questions asked. I think that's all they ask. I don't think it's "jack-booting", they were obviously made mods for a reason, I feel it's a priviledge to post my bizarre musings on this site, not a right. So having said that...

When I was 17, my best friend Scott was pissed-off because his neighbors, the Cheadles, forced his parents to get rid of his dog, Jasper, because he barked too much. We swore revenge!! One Saturday night, about 11:30, we snuck onto their front porch. As all juvenile delinquents do, we had some m-80's. We duct taped one to their living room window, lit it and tore down the street laughing our asses off when it exploded. We ran to his house, the police suspected us and came over but Scott's dad, Max, hated the Cheadles too and told the fine officers we were home all night.

Flash forward - years ahead. I'm about 40, I'm visiting my brother in the old home town and I meet my old friend Scott at a bar. We're fairly tanked up and at 11:30, I suggest we blow up the Cheadles living room window again, for old times sake. Scott agreed, we gathered an M-80 at my brother's house, snuck over to the Cheadles, taped it up, lit it and ran(much slower this time). We found out the next day the Cheadles had moved out years ago. It was great.
