Thank you for raising the issue. I don't want to see censorship on eater. I would like to see more Sensership (as in good common sense) in some areas of posting.

I see where both Red and Callum are coming from regarding this issue. I agree with Red that we don't want to be stifled in what we feel is OK or not OK to post about, and I also agree with him that there's a lot we can do ourselves to make the forum better other than moaning about it.

Yet at the same time I do agree with Callum that we need to be careful about where the forum is headed. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, maybe this thread is what's needed just to knock the forum back onto its right path again, that it's something calling for only a small change, but a change nonetheless to stop things from going down a path none of us really want it to end up in.

We shouldn't need the mods to come to the rescue all the time, deleting inappropriate posts and the like. Just as we say we're mature enough to deal with adult topics and a bit of adult humour from time to time, surely we must also be mature enough to realise where the boundaries are, and to veer away from them, rather than requrie the mods to bring things back from over the boundaries.

I believe both sides are making good points here and I am willing to follow the majority. Which ever direction they go. If it ever comes to a point where I believe the majority is wrong, I will simply go away.

Provided the kak stays within the confines of a PWT, I don't really have an issue with it, though even in a PWT I see no point of posting up pics of scantily dressed women or men unless there is a genuine reason for it (I recall a certain bra, some stripey socks and a strategically placed towel).
The problem starts when other threads turn into PWT. This may not always be done on purpose - sometimes one light-hearted remark gives a thread another spin. I've been guilty of it myself in the past, I suppose.
Let's not beat ourselves up abhout this too much. General chat is supposed to be just that and should provide a break from the more serious sides of scambaiting.
I think, this thread serves as a timely reminder that it's good to think before you post... Wink

I would urge restraint with the scantily clad avatars. Some people access Eater from work - I used to - and, pardon my choice of phraseology here, having some woman's breasts bursting out of an avatar in a work place that took sexual discrimination seriously was not a good idea.

I recognise that adult orientated avatars are part of the internet. But let's show a bit of restraint especially when you consider that youngsters, male and female, do lurk here.

I think I have only ever once clicked on the PWT so I can't really comment on what goes on there but I was quite shocked to read Callum's opening post.

Regarding the overall tone of the Eater messageboards, this is probably the best messageboard community I have ever been part of, it is well regualted, trolls are dealt with quickly and threads locked if peoples emotions get out of hand. Everyone I have come in contact with in this forum have been decent, friendly and always willing to help in baiting endavours. I think we are doing ourselves a great disservice to say the tone is being lowered. If it has it is confined to the PWT to which I do not frequent anyway.

I don't see the problem with the PWT. Like many here though, I think all the completely off-topic stuff should stay in there rather than being posted elsewhere on the forum. Surely the PWT performs a useful function? If it didn't exist, how much crap would be posted elsewhere in the forums? Surely it's better to restrict the majority of junk to one thread rather than have the mods working overtime or members posting trivialities in serious threads (either intentionally or unintentionally).
Although I've posted in the PWT myself a couple of times (3 I think), I don't normally bother reading it. I would suggest that if others feel the same, maybe they should avoid it as well. Although it may not stand out as a gem of scambaiting excellence, people do need somewhere to blow off a bit of steam amongst their friends and so therefore, I'd just let them get on with it in there.

Scambaiting is meant to be fun. Get rid of the PWT and you get rid of some of the fun for a few of the regular posters here as it's as much a part of their baiting fun as dealing with the lads is. Just make sure that all of the crap stays in there and doesn't start encroaching on the rest of the forum.

@Klaasvaak : it's not just at work (although that's exactly where I am now... Razz

). My wife has accused me of accessing XXX-sites when I was only reading the 419Eater forum... and despite my explanations she's still apprehensive..; after all, what do semi-naked ladies with their breasts poking you in the eye have to do with baiting? Not that I mind Laughing

Nowadays, I just wait until she's out, or watching some telly....

On the whole, I agree with Callum : light banter and having a laugh is ok, hell... is a must!, but some of the comments and/or posted pictures are over the top... although I would also rather see it contained to one PWT as opposed to the entire forum being infested...

... just my penny's worth....

I know I havent been here very long...but scambaiting is not a hobby I would ever recommend to children, and so in my opinion, that makes this forum an adult one, so I dont see the problem with a few tits and a bit of adult humour on the boards, just so long as it's on this board and not on the scambaiting ones.

But maybe I'm missing the point?

I understand what you are saying. I am not just some little kid though. I also do enjoy adult humor. I think there is nothing wrong with someone like me baiting. I do understand why you wouldn't recommend baiting to children.

Since I caused some of this stir up (by requesting the PWT to be locked and by opening the new one in the first place), I would like to add something here:

The original PWT was a great thing, cause it built up a great community sense among the members posting there. Even though it was about off topic stuff, it still often remained on different topics for several pages, sometimes even running them parallel. You know, the PWT wasn�t born out of the purpose of making it a monster thread. As a matter of fact, most of the posters on the first pages thought that the thread would soon be locked. But the Mods left it open, since it started to be a good and funny thing and it really kept us postwhores in one place. But as the mods already stated: This isn�t the case anymore. People make offtopic posts all over the forum now. And this even though there would be a PWT for this.
So lets put it simple: The PWT wasn�t serving its purpose anymore, so it was time to close it. I was the OP of the thread, and I have to admit, that I didn�t really read it anymore, since it really got very very boring.

I am anything but prude, but I do understand that we are a heterogeneous community, where people have different tolerance levels to nudity and sexual salaciousness. First we have to respect the opinion of the others about that, but most of all I think that it is NOT suitable to continuously post pictures of half naked ladies when there are kids around. I personally wouldn�t have a problem with a 13yr. old seeing such pictures, but again, this is not about me or you, this is about all of us together. And if one or more members find it unsuitable for their kid, we have to respect that and avoid pictures like this. This site is not about posting this kind of pictures, this site is about baiting. And some members here have kids whom they want to get into baiting, but I doubt they will like their kids to see these kind of pics here.

^^ I just wonder where things go from here though? Do we not have a PWT at all anymore, in which case we potentially risk post-whoring spreadhing throughout other parts of the forum, do we create a new PWT with stricter guidelines in the first post about what should or shouldn't be there, or do we eventually unlock the existing PWT.

I'm kind of curious to see how this Skype chat thing works so I might give that a go in the meanwhile.
