I am not sure why this thread even exists as ethical considerations related to asking the scammer to do certain skin modifications (no matter how repugnant or grisly it may be) should be a no-brainer:

It is open season on scammers and we baiters can use tactics both fair and unfair to achieve our main goals.

Correction on the generalisation comment, but not all peoples and/or tribes perform ritual self-mutilation as a rite of passage. So having to visit Africa to know this is irrelevant.

To clarify: Yes, there are many Muslims in the Sahel and semi-Sahel countries, but not a lot of scammers there. As far as the countries with the most scams, Nigeria tends to be Christian and animist with some Muslims in the north, Cote d'Ivoire, the same. The Ghanans and Togolese I know are Christian, but I suppose they have Muslim populations too.

Muslim boys tend to be circumcised around age 12.

Edit: Non-Muslim West Africans tend to also be circumcised, but not all are. Risk of HIV infection tends to be slightly higher for non-circumcised men.

@ Putersteve: As for women, not all groups cut. Please don't call it circumcision as it's not at all the same thing--the equivalent of cutting off part or all of the penis, not just the foreskin.

My West African Franc (two cents) says this (Valachus' idea, not FGM)sounds like a baiter's fantasy to chuckle over, but personally, I think it would be better to focus on something more creative, more likely to happen, and less dodgy on the ethics side.

Well, the scammer is up for the adoption scheme, trouble is he sent me some pictures of a very young boy, much younger than he sounds on the phone (he sounds like one in his late 20s, and the boy looks to me under 20):

I definitely don't want to instigate or contribute to the scammer paying some lousy bucks to a poor youngster in order to have him carve himself tattoos or worse.
Has anyone seen these photos before?

Those look like "glamor shots" rather than simple photographs. Would want to confirm your Lad is "the Lad" before making him undergo any thing permanent.

If a Lad hires others to carve, scribble, or what have you, that is one thing. If he makes some kid get tattooed/circumcised or whatever that sort of pushes the ethics in another direction, methinks. It is also a hard trophy to display!

The pics of the guy seem to come from a local photostudio with those flashy wallpaper backgrounds and were put on a bad scanner. The "sister" pic surely comes from the net.

Hi,

If he is to convert to Judaism then he needs to grow a beard and wear a scull cap. If you want him to be a hasidic jew then he will need to grow earlocks and wear a prayer shawl. You will also have to educate him about eating kosher as well.

I reckon it'd be a great trophy of a photo of a nigerian dressed as an orthodox jew.
