Me? I never figured out what these "social bookmarking tools " are actually supposed to do.
So you click on it if you see a link under an article or some such thing and then it gets added to one of those thingiebobbies that are called digg.it, delicious (so's icecream) or some such names and then what?
Does this have something to do with the whole Web 2.0 malarke? Can we slashdot the next troll? Or shall we digg it? Confused

Explanation for the confused:

Digg is a "social bookmarking site" or as it's better known, elaborate forum.
Slashdot is a "geek news" site or as it's better known, ugly ass forum-esque site from 1926.
Delicious I'm not sure about but I believe it's a similar sort of thing.

Clicking the links will, theoretically, submit the current thread to either of those sites**
Once submitted, they then go into the moderation queue. On Digg, the stories that make the "front page" are decided by the number of people interested in them who then 'digg' them. On Slashdot, the "front page" stories are decided by the Slashdot admin / moderation team. Dunno how Delicious works.

The idea is that if you think a thread is really cool, you can easily submit it to one or more of those sites and 'share it with the world'.

Personally I don't think it's going to make any difference as it's rare that you see forum material make the front page of Digg and 419 related stuff isn't really geek based material so probably won't hit Slashdot.

Hmmm.... do you know the correct links? (I coded it and at the time those links I inserted into the phpBB code are the correct ones) If you know of another link please let me know.

Changed - I had forgotten to update withj our URL - it still leads to the same login page off course

I also changed it to open a new window rather then taking you away from eater. Added the icons and a brief description.

You need a login on most user-submitted-content sites so they know who submitted it.

Sites usually do it to make it "convenient" to share something you think is worth sharing. It's also free advertising on a really big scale, assuming it makes the front page.

There is one thing to keep in mind Rover, if you're reading... if you hit front page you could get thousands if not tens of thousands of hits in a short space of time (like an hour) and then a continued flood of hits after that... not that many sites survive the digg or slashdot effect and phpbb isn't known for overly optimized code.

Getting the word out to victims or potential victims is well worth the risk of the occasional lad finding us.
