Back when that song came out I thought he should have been investigated for 419 fraud, cause he was obviously promoting it. Glad to see they finally nabbed him.

Good! I hate that dickhead. I've used his little song a few times as endgame for baits, "how do you explain THIS??", I love the idea of the lads thinking that this 'hero' has spoilt their scams Laughing

It just amazes me that even when someone from that part of the world has a legitimate way to earn a living, has a real job, etc... that they still try the 419 thing. I guess that it shows just how accepted and celebrated 419 actually is over there. I wonder what it will take for that mindset to be purged from them.

I was enraged when I first saw the music video, but after watching the movie I took the song as it was supposedly intended, as satire and humor. I'm pretty surprised to learn that he actually became a scammer himself. The film really does denigrate scammers and shows them as devoid of morals, stealing happily even from fellow Nigerians. As YeaWhatever says, it's amazing that someone who actually had a solid career as an entertainer still got sucked into scamming. It's a very sad commentary.

I wish Ergot was around. I'd really like to hear his thoughts on this.

I really miss Ergot's perspective too. He had an amazingly deep understanding of the culture. He really opened my eyes to a lot of things -- including a fuller understanding of the movie "The Master" which starred Nkem Owoh and was the basis of the hit song. I keep hoping RL will settle down and he'll come back.

Not to mention I loved his avatar... Wink
