libel case filed againts me (PARONDA BUILDERS)

Hi,
I know you already posted in your site that people asking for assistance on scam issues must not send the scam mail..However, i have a dilemma. I got so irritated with the company who informed me that i'm qualified for the job i japan, but that i have to pay upfront a sum of P5,500 which can be refunded upon meeting them at Makati Dusit Hoetl here in the Philippines. I emailed them back and told them that i know that it is a scam and they're part of the fraud companies...the sender emailed me back and told me they filed a libel case against me..do these people have the ground to file me a case such as that? or do they really file the case?

That is ridiculous, they are just trying to scare you.
Obviously I don't know anything about Phillipine or Japanese civil law - but in my opinion it cannot by "libel" if you just said they are scammers in a private letter. Aside from the fact that you are very probably right, that it is a scam... Wink

Don't worry, they have nothing against you - I bet they don't have the tiniest interest of bringing this into court, but that they just want to scare you enough to "settle" this "out of court".

Your best course of action in opinion would be: Ignore everything they send you from now on.

Whoa now Ginger, let's just keep things simple Firstly, the two web sites. One is dead apparently, the other is working fine and has been registered since 2003. That does not necessarily give it legitimacy. The job content seems a bit sus, eg quite a few Australian jobs are in the Congo.
Next of concern, you place emphasis on libel. On the facts, as known in the Western World, calling someone a scammer when there is a chance his behaviour suggests it, is not libel.
Thirdly I'm not sure of the A$ value of the amount you quote. However legitimate employers do not require an advance fee, refundable or otherwise.
Full details would be needed to make a definitive assessment of affairs, but if it walks like a scam... etc, it probably is a scam.
I'll do some more research and get back later,

I think I'll apply for a job. If he gets legal on me I'll get my lawyer to start conducting a legal argument in Latin with him. Very Happy

which is almost certainly where your scammers (and yes, this IS a scam) are based.
If you can post the headers from one of their yahoo emails, we should be able to confirm which country they are from

Lads will very often (when working an employment scam as here) use legitimate companies websites to back up their 'claim' for vacancies.
The shouting about 'libel' is typical lad scare tactics and total BS
They aren't about to contact any legal authority and start a case against you.
As to their emails: Ignore, Delete and Forget Wink

It is possible that you have misinterpreted something.
Send me a PM with what you have read that has suggested that to you and I'll clarify it.

Of course anyone can file a case for libel but whether they have a successful case or not can only be determined in a court of law.
It is unlikely that these people would actually sue.
There would be great difficulties and enormous expense of raing a case in one country to sue someone in another.
I think that you can write it off as an empty threat.

I suggest that you spend your time trying to find the evidence to prove or disprove whether this organisation is a scam.

That's a lot of good advice.

Here's mine: Philippine scam artists can be smarter than the average lad, and can be very nasty. I suggest extreme caution.

It seems from Google that it is a fast growing company, 3 months old, and specialises in overseas placement of workers from the Phillipines. It claims to be exempt from PEOA which is an industrial type of legislation.
They are advertising for graduate Civil Engineers at P100,000 pa. This equates to, I think about $4,000A. Ludicrous. The site listed below is a forum with a lot of negative comment about the Company

Paronda Builders has been removed from the database of http://www.bestjobs.ph following their receipt of fraud reports.

If you do a Google search for Paronda Builders you will find nothing other than fraud notices.

Whoaahhh! That's great news! Actually, i also wrote bestjobs.ph a letter informing them about the various scam companies advertising in their site. I still have no reply from them. however, i'm glad that PARONDA was already removed from their list. I also reported these guys to the Phil. Employment Agency so other people would be safeguarded from the bait of these fraud people. Thanks a lot again.
