I must have annoyed one of my lads recently. I have been getting an email from Hallmark.com (supposedly) with a link to open a card that I have been sent. It tries to open some sort of .exe file, which is bad news, and my Norton Anti-Virus stopped it because it was trying to load a trojan horse virus. This was sent to my account that is only used for the lads, so I am fairly confident one of them is sending it.

So, just a word of warning to all about this. Has anyone else had this experience?

Aloha!

Sorry. I even searched before posting and didn't find that thread. I must not have used the right keywords. Feel free to delete mods.

Actually the other thread is discussing ecards whereas you seem to have been sent a virus. It's probably an accident, lads generally use cybercafes with machines that are not the most virus free of systems, so he's sent you one by mistake. The chances of it being on purpose are staggeringly low so don't worry too much.

Had three mysterious e-cards in my inbox in the past week...none would open. Oddly they were on my email address which I use daily for general emailing, never used for scambaiting or anything remotely related.
The only spam sometimes received on the account is the usual "Buy-our-Viagra"-type.
Virus-scans on them and the whole hard drive detected nothing.

One of my pets was obviously infected with a virus I got sent several different viral emails claiming pictures and ecards, all from the same woman. I told her to "go away" and stop sending me the "nasty" viruses. She was most apologetic and admited having a virus and was allegedly trying to clean her machine.

A Lad isn't going to send you a virus or whatever - what they want is your money. Messing up your computor does not further that goal, rather it retards it.

Maybe if you got one real mad he might try something, but you would know it because of its place in the time-line of your bait - a parting shot from a very angry Lad you have kicked around for months.

With Lads, its always about the money. Always.

@chipmunk

I thought it was exactly that--a lad that I had played with for a couple of months that eventually got off the hook after figuring out he was getting nothing from me. Then I started getting a couple of "hallmark" cards within a few days of it ending. Maybe it wasn't him, but the timing is interesting and I only get lad crap at that address, so it made me wonder.
