First of all, his name, up until now, wasn't Ken. It was Jim.

Second of all, WOW. He asks me if I'm a baiter, and yet I'm still guessing that he wants me to think he's legitimate.

I sent him a question about what a baiter was, etc... Should I send him another one asking why his name is different?

I wouldn't say anything abt the name change. Hopefully he would do it w/ a real victim & they would be alerted. Seems like your mugu has been on the ride b4 LOL. I have a bible mugu I'm trying to bait now, he's also been baited b4 & he knows it. You have to be careful w/ them.

I've gotten a few lads off script and even off topic (usually with off-colour job offers), and it's friggin' amazing how well some of them speak English. Could be they handed the whole thing to a more educated oga, could be that when they're working in script they just don't give a damn.

Either way, I've found many a mugu to have a good command of the English language when it suits their purposes. On the other hand, how they can be so gullible still shocks the hell out of me.

Some say the same about victims. My guess is they see $$$ and don't fully concentrate on what's being asked. Plus if they're running multiple scams they might not fully appreciate what's happening or realise that they've been strung along for months on end, etc.

@johnny5: Good point. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty gullible too. For years I actually believed that size doesn't matter. Yeah I know, but like I said... I'm gullible!

Heck if it wasn't for gullible scammers, this wouldn't be any fun at all. Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't move to Lagos and open a betting shop!

The term "baiting" does have some meaning outside of scambaiting, since it existed long before the "sport" did.

I've used it many a time in the context of 1) teasing/trying to deliberately anger someone/attack or torment, especially with persistent insults, criticism, or ridicule and less often in the context of 2) luring someone/something into a trap.

Similarly, I've had a lad or two accuse me of "baiting". When I asked them to explain, they always had some innocuous explanation about how I was trying to tease them. When lads actually twig, they tend to call you a joker or a fool.

Certain lad has now accused me twice of baiting. I've finally given him the brush-off as I doubt the bait would go any further. In an earlier email he actually referred me to the eater website where I found a lovely pic of him in the trophy room! Very Happy

Kept everything in character though - didn't 'burn' him.

Supposedly he's located in Lagos, Nigeria.

I doubt he knows about the website, as I've posted about him here quite a few times.
