Thanks for the well wishes... I just wish they'd let me sleep past 6am. Oh well, I will seek revenge when they are teenagers! |

I've been cooking for my dad all day, fixing all of his favorites.
He's a wonderful man and I've been lucky.
His b-day is the 16th (76yrs.old) and father's day is the 17th. We celebrate them separate. |

Let the celebration begin! Bottle O cheap Coors beer, computer chair, US open golf tourney on TV, and a sick wife! Got a nice call from my step son though, which was real cool, as we don't share DNA. He must like me. He gave me a 2 year supply of "cooking" herbs last week. 2 years for me anyway. I don't "cook" that often anymore. |

I'm an old golf nerd from way back. I used to mow for the city course in Tahoe. Best summer job in the world. Plus, I play a pretty good game! Well, before these hips got rebuilt. |

Well I got my dad a book, one which I want to read I'll admit but we share similar tastes.
I've got him to thank for revealing Asimoz and other sci fi greats, for reading me Tolkien instead of Enid Blyton, steering me toward Catch 22, Silver Darlings , Scots Quair but allowing Jackie magazine
And in time the daughter repaid the favour by introducing the father to Rincewind and Discworld.....
My kids got their dad ( with some help to the underage ) A 1 litre bottle Glenmorangie, a superdad tshirt, bottle of Highland Park, a collection of fishing flies, whilst he spent half the day visiting his father and stepfather.
- modern world, my offspring have grown up with 3 "grannies" and 3 "grandads" but , (touchwood) only 1 mum and 1 dad and not one 1st cousin at all, some step cousins but no blood related ones |

My Dad left us stranded and broke when I was 4 years old, Then died when I was 13. (1973). He was rich, and had a good lawyer, and never supported me. Karma I guess. Not a very nice Father's Day story, but oh well. He was a fairly brutal man, not afraid to use fire place pokers on wives and children. Rest In Pain. |

I got a call from my little one, wh told me she loved me. I told her that I should be thanking her for being a daughter that I could be proud of and that it was an enormous privilege and honour to be her dad. I just wish that every one could see what an honour it is to have kids and not treat them as their personal toys. |

@JoeTam,
What a wonderful son that he could have had.
He missed out!
My dad's dad was like that and it made him a better man. Something good comes out of everything and everything happens for a reason.
I am the youngest of three. I was never spanked and I never needed it. |

My dad isn't a very nice man, so he got nothing.
The friend we have living with us has two kids, and their dad is a bit of an arse too, and so isn't in the picture. I got to be "token daddy" to a 5 year old girl and a 3 year old boy for the day... The little man made me a card in nursery last week, along with some, and I use quotes here, "mint fondants", which strangely have yet to be eaten... I got a big fry-up breakfast yesterday, got to sit on the sofa watching tv (which I'd have done anyway!), and got cake and custard after tea, which they helped make.
Not sure if its "healthy" from a psychological standpoint, but they had fun, and it was kinda nice to have a fuss made. |

My Dad got the regulation tacky socks - this year they say "best dad" in blue sequins on black nylon, and cost a whole 1, making them the cheesiest yet. I am only disappointed that, now I am an adult, he doesn't feel he has to wear them at least once. He also got the regulation edible present - a box of chocolate gingers. The sweet thing about my dad, though, is that he got more fun out of being my co-conspirator when we hatched a plot for me to fly in and surprise my mum on her birthday last weekend. |

My dad got a '4-pack' of real ale (Abbott Ale for all you conus-sewers)
oh.. and the obligatory rude card that took the p*** out of him
My 12 y.o. boy gave me a card about him being happy with me wearing the trousers (a term for being in charge for those who don't know!) just so long as there was money in the pockets!
He also gave me the coolest thing ever: a bottle opener in the shape of a Dalek which shouts "Exterminate!" (in a wonderful 'daleky voice') everytime you use it |

Carrying on the Dr. Who theme, I got my RC K-9 plus a bottle of port, chunk of stilton, JD shot glasses and last year's card recycled (wife bought me a new one then forgot where she'd hidden it, so I guess I have it to look forward to next year ). My father passed away several years ago, and we bought the father in law a Johnny Cash DVD and one of those silly "Dad's taxi" kits. Then as an extra suprise, my sister in law's emigrating with her husband, so brought some stuff down for us. In one of the bags was a 4 pack of cider
(edit) and I was woken up at 11am with breakfast in bed made by my 10 year old. Ok, I know that makes me sound like a lazy bum, but I was up til gone 3am keeping an eye on my wife who had an allergic reaction to her medication so I'm excused. |

It was a great Fathers Day here, Aggrav8 came over and gave me a Steelers Christmas ornament, a nice card, and a new gold hoop earring. Then, as is our tradition, she asked for a cpl hundred bucks for new summer clothes, then left to meet her friends at Abercrombie and Fitch. |

I got a rock that is painted purple and sprinkled with glitter. It even has felt pads on the bottom so it won't scratch my desk... where it will live forever. |
