Have any of you seen Blood Diamond? Well, in the movie they start speaking in another language, but all it is is not good English. You can tell its not supposed to be English but you don't need subtitles to know what they are saying. I was just wondering if that is actually a language or if they just made it up for the movie. |

Krio is a former creole language native to the Krios, a community of about 100,000 descendants of freed slaves living in Sierra Leone's capital city of Freetown and in a diaspora centred on West Africa, the UK and eastern United States.
...Krio is used early in the 2006 film Blood Diamond between Danny Archer (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and a character named Commander Zero. |

Bilingual is a rather tricky concept, as some say you need to speak both languages fluently to be considered one, yet some say that this is not necessary but at least you should be able to communicate, and then others claim that merely understanding what you read and/or listen to in a foreign tongue makes you a bilingual. |

Not a fantastic chat up line....
I remember going to Mauritius (I tink it was) and the locals spoke 'Creol'
It was amazing to hear the locals yapping away in Indian and French, then suddenly break into perfect English. Especially after a few wines... |

English comes from Latin and germanic language, some words in french and german and english are the same.
Quote: |
Language family: Indo-European, Germanic, West Germanic, AngloFrisian, Anglic, English |
Which means as long as what the person is saying is fairly basic you will understand them, but its also down to the local dialects, some scottish speakers cannot be understood in london yet there speaking perfect english, this is down to pronounciation more than the actual language being spoken.
English is only spoken by 1billion people on earth, that means 1 in 6 speak english so US slackers need to learn the other languages so we can all go down the pub and have a laugh and understand each other. (us not US lol)
French and English, Chinese(mandarin), Japanese should let you communicate with half the world thats still 1/2 the world who will look at you blankly so you got to learn perhaps one of the other asian languages and then 3/4 of the world will understand you, then latin and the whole world will understand you - as long as you speak clearly and slow enough for them to "Agnosco quis vos iustus sono" |

I was in French in 7th grade, but they put me in German in 8th so I quit that, and now I'm taking French next year (10th). |

Does that have to do with "daddy's little helper"? (Quote from mythbusters). |

If "Daddies little helper" is Lorazepam, then yes. |

^^^ Touche Loink! Lorazepam (Ativan), is in a class of synthetic drugs known as benzodiazepines, anti anxiety drugs. Google either name, you'll get it. By the time you're my age, you'll get it all. Trust me. And no, at this advanced age, I do not need Viagra! |

DAMNIT ... Doesn't anyone on this site care enough about their fellow man enough to send me some damn vicodin? I haven't had any in weeks. Sure, I feel great, look better, and have even started running a bit but that's beside the point. I want drugs!! |
