I can't beleive how many years I wasted watching that program, only to get an ending like that! I'm so angry right now, I may have to go kill a hooker or something.

I think Tony got "Whacked"

A while back he talked about getting whacked, and it just "going black"...

I'm with you on that. You would think they could have come up with a better ending then that. I was extremely disappointed. We didn't really waste years on it though, because it was an ass kicking show until last night.

And yes, the ending was questionable but it was all worth it watching Phil Leotardo get shot in the head and then having his SUV drive over his head while he laid there bleeding all over the place. Laughing

I hated that guy.

Sorry to say but this show jumped the shark a while back so I'm glad this was the final series (one too many IMO). Back in the day this was probably the finest drama ever produced on American TV. RIP

I actually loved the ending. I thought that final scene with all the fake tension (people walking in the door, Meadow trying to park her car) and you waiting for something to happen was great. Chase directed this episode and he was making judicious use of the quick cuts and not slowing down to let any scene drag on too long.

Chase has repeatedly said that he doesn't believe in clean, neat endings. There really is no way to "end" this show -- so you have to pick a point somewhere, and like real life, things get messy, you have your ups and downs, but it doesn't "end" -- maybe your life does, but everyone else's goes on.

The beauty is that everyone gets to interpret it. I don't think he got whacked -- and you cannot discount Chase's use of songs -- he is very deliberate in their use. The episode ended on "Don't stop..." from Journey's cheeseball but universally beloved 80's anthem. I heard that as an order: don't stop. Keep going.

But who knows, maybe that shifty guy came out of the bathroom and whacked him. Wink

I would have been much happier if they had shown a complete shot of Phil's head getting crushed by the SUV tire. I wouldn't have cared what happened after that point...I hated him.

True, but it was funny as hell watching that dude standing near by start puking at the site of it. Everyone at my house roared with laughter.

That scene was great.

And the exchange between Meadow and Tony when she's explaining why she wants to be a lawyer -- how "the State" can crush the individual. Tony: "New Jersey"? That pretty much summed up the show. Laughing

Initially I was mad as hell at the ending.....I too thought WTF has happened to my satelite?

After mulling it over for a few minutes, I liked it. It leaves us pondering Tony's fate and also the possibility of a Soprano's movie.

I agree with JM....the tension at the end was superb.

The only thing I'm really pissed about, is that Paulie wasn't whacked. He's such a whiney girly man.

Yeah, I thought there was something wrong with my cable when it ended, but three of my friends confirmed that this is how it is.

I loved/hated the ending, as it did leave alot up in the air. But, it did leave open the possibility for movies, spinoffs, and maybe a revisited Sopranos season.

Now, I don't know if it's true or not, but I have read that they did shoot, err, film, multiple endings, to keep everyone guessing. So I'd imagine that when the DVD comes out, there will be a bonus disk with the different endings.

No specific reason -- he saw an opportunity and took it. Basically Chrissy was becoming less and less reliable and respectful (some real, some imagined reasons for that). He was back on drugs, he seemed more interested in writing screenplays, and he (like Tony's real son) was a pale reflection of the Father. As Tony told Melfi -- he was more relieved than anything by his death.

He should have been whacked a long time ago. Christopher was almost as annoying as Paulie.

Is it confirmed that Deadwood has been canceled? I thought that show was doing well. I thought Carnivale was doing well too. I guess that will teach me to think.

I heard someone say today that the whole screen going blank at the end was the symbolism of the audience getting wacked, because the show revolved around Tony and he was himself in that scene wacked. I really don't care though.
