By the looks of things scammers were the least of her problems...

Sounds like she snapped. He must have said or done something, after pushing her buttons for years, that pushed her over the edge. Not saying she's completely innocent in this case, but for someone to do something as drastic as shoot someone with a shotgun, they are either; a) pushed to the breaking point or b) severely unbalanced or both. Of course, I am not even remotely a dr, but I can truely relate to a).

It wouldn't be the first time that a defence team tried this tack. Whilst it's not beyond the bounds of belief that the deceased was in fact comitted to some sort of fetish the accused didn't enjoy, equally, it wouldn't be the first time such a thing was dreamt up. The case will unfold in due course. She'll be lucky to get off without jail time. If the jury don't go for "unreasonable demands", who knows - she might well find herself getting the maximum. Two lives destroyed, assuming no kids involved...... And a contributing factor wandering loose in another country, trying the same again.

Don't hug lads, it aint worth it.

The case is already over. The jury's verdict was voluntary manslaughter, instead of murder. Today was her sentencing. She got three years.

^^^She got 210 days of "lock up". Time served of 5 months with the balance (60 days) to be in a psych treatment facility. The balance of the 3 year sentence is probation.

All of that because of platform heels, a wig, some pron, and something she felt was unnatural... Shocked

The 419 connection was ruled of no consequence by the judge in the sentencing.

She left her husband (who she said she loves still) with his life ebbing/oozing out of him as she drove away with her kids who were in the house at the time of the murder! Twisted Evil

I thought the case was still running. Three years seems light for murder/manslaughter - even with wig, shoes and copy of Hustler Confused

In other US Justice news the average sentence for murder in the USA is now reportedly 15 years, rape 8 years, but the RIAA is attempting to ram through a maximum of 100 years for copyright theft....... Copyright theft ! Get yer priorities right folks.

I really think that it's time we stop playing games with these Nigerian 419 bastards and really get serious with them. We all need to start hurting them. Hold them accountable and make them suffer the consequrnces for their behavior. Until they are hurt, they are going to thumb their noses at everyone and continue to swindle people. We need to retalliate, hit them hard with force. That's the only way to get them to stop.

short of us all arming ourselves to the teeth, parachuting into Nigeria, and shooting the shit out of every cybercafe we find, there is not a lot more we can do.

(i'm not averse to the above in principle, but I cant parachute cos I'm scared of heights)

So I'm juror #6 in a trial of a (seemed like) 93 Y.O., 35Kg, white haired lady with a stroller. She looked really frail and I give her a twenty minute stare down checking her out for any trickery. She shook for the three days that I watched her from 5 meters away.

I read all about her in the local papers. The .45 autoloader flew out of her hands a three meters after she blew out the front of her old man's skull. A shot to the back of the head after Sunday night pot roast will do that fairly well.

I heard that she got tired of the physical, emotional, and a*** abuse.

I could not believe that I was the only person in the pool that had a college degree and the only person that read the paper. I forgot who said nothing was more scary than being tried in front of 12 people too stupid to get out of jury duty.

All through the process of voir dire I was constantly the pain in the butt. The judge asked me if I could put aside my college education and not use it to sway the rest of the jury. I asked if he was going to prescribe drugs?
How do I do that? He said the there was going to be expert testimony by psychologists. I told him that expert psychologists was an oxymoron and that psychiatry was not a science. Sorry to all the shrinks out there, but I was trying to skate. There was no point in protecting society from her.

For all my efforts, my punishment was to be excused from that trial and I was put as an alternate on a crack cocaine case. That was a slam dunk case where the lady said she was a strawberry and got the stuff for free. I have never seen a more skinny skank. Three undercover officers bought off of her. They had video. They had the rocks and passed it around the court room. I was not allowed to say anything at all during the deliberations and the defendant was found not guilty.

You might not be aware of it, but scamming like this goes back over 200 years to the 'Wealthy Spanish Prince/Son Prisoner' one, which lasted until about 35 years ago..when I graduated HS in NYC and the only computer there was the size of a Pontiac....Lads had to actually hand-write scam letters to each victim and spend money on stamps. Time consuming and expensive.

Computers are manna from heaven for the lads, allowing them to reach a target audience of millions---every week! And sadly, 100 years from now when most of us are playing harps this will still be going on. Greed never takes a holiday. We here are just trying to show in the ' 419 Archives of Humanity' that we did try and do our part in a temporary stop-gap to their stealing.

I'm college educated and over 50. I resent the fact that I can globe-trot for months, but if a jury-duty summons arrives at my home and I don't answer it within 30 days or so a warrant is issued for my arrest. Make no mistake about it, people have gone to jail for failure to respond back on time, as I'm sure you know.

I reply to the court-clerk that I abhor their bully attitude. I'm a night owl, and I tell them that if I must be in court at 9am I will sleep thru the entire trial--which is a truthful statement. In addition, I tell them that whatever the other 11 vote, I will vote the opposite. I write back in big angry ink, like I'm pissed off--because I am. Works like a charm every time....Never yet had to have a voir-dire because they always tell me "you're excused" by mail.

I empathize with you on this/that/and the other thing
