I was talking to a friend recently about my baiting escapades, and my fellow 419 eaters treatment to mugus much to his amusement!. He then brought up the idea of Paedo baiting perhaps posing as a younger member of society and leading a sicko into a trap where you would be armed with the info to have them charged... anyone thought of or tried this?

just curious they seem like the ideal target and are to some of the worst net scum.

As a Policeman myself, I can assure you that there are dedicated professional teams that do exactly this, in every developed nation, usually working closely together.
Paedophilia rings, are after all, global networks.

I'd say that this is an area best left to the professionals.

After all, it's a serious offence that needs proper investigation and proper evidence trails.
It's a world apart from baiting a mugu for fun.

It's a big no-no I'm afraid.

Agree with others. Getting the sickos arrested is serious business. If you screw up the evidence gathering process, you can ruin law enforcements' plans. What you are doing may end up as entrapment... the scums can receive a free get-out of jail card thanks to you. Leave pedo baiting up to the police and fbis

I would say that there should be a place on eater to give credit to the people who opperate on sites like perverted justice. They do an admirable job, deserve more recognition than they do get.

However, I completely agree that baiting and PJ are totally different for the reasons explained above.

IMO, pedo baiting is fine if it interests you, just make sure you go about it the right way. Just like lads and arrest baiting here, make sure you don't initiate the contact, hook up with PJ, and learn the ropes there. Smile

Baiting lads is worthwhile because, realistically, they are never going to be apprehended and charged. I know there are a few exceptions but generally speaking we can only do what we do to waste their time, energy and resources. Internet scammers, unfortunately, are not a high priority for most busy police forces and they certainly don't have the resources to go out looking for them. Pedophiles and other sexual offenders on the other hand are very much in the crosswires in most police departments with dedicated squads assigned to track, monitor and catch them. So I say leave it to the experts, although obviously if you stumble across anything suspicious you should report it to LEO immediately. I once did a Google search for something totally innocuous and among the hits was a carefully disguised pedo site. The home page looked 'innocent' at first glance but it was clearly a site designed for "misunderstood" people to share information and images. My local police dept were very grateful to be given the link.

My wife has been working sex crimes for about a year now. Always comes home bummed. When we were on the streets together I�ve seen her jump on the back of a 6� 2�� 200 lb man and choke him out in a matter of seconds. She gave a poor dude a dying declaration without even getting teary eyed. Not to mention all the dead bodies we have seen and that never bothered her.

It�s not the sex crimes, it�s the child molest victims that gets to her. She has been a cop for 16 years so this really isn�t anything new to her. But it still bothers her. (must be a chick thing)

On a happier note the asshole she was in court with all week long, the guy that molested his daughter for over five years. He was sentenced to 75 years and 25 years to run consecutively. I wonder if he will like forced sex on him.

So like Stargate said make sure you can mentally handle dealing with those sick f*cks.

Oh and FTR, perverted justice does an outstanding job that many police departments just don�t have the resources for.

I have a couple of friends who are police officers

what they tell me is that the officers involved in tracking this sort of thing regularly go off work because of the traumatic nature of the whole thing

I would even consider it unless you are really determined and very strong psychologically

Well, there are plenty of very competent professionals on this. We have a great group of investigators and associates in my area called the ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) task force. This is the latest catch, the low life posted some of his crimes on the Internet and ICAC shut him down for his next 17 lifetimes Very Happy

Please consider the nature of this type of baiting/work before you ever become in it (dealing with pedos). It will change your view of the world for ever, and it is not to be taken lightly.

I would recommend turning the informaiton over to your local police department. The rules of evidence for these cases are strict, and at least in the US, in many jurisdiction chats with non-LEOs are not admissible in court. (I've seen cases screwed up due to this).

If anyone here is even thinking of baiting pedos, please PM me. Hypothetically, I might know something about these investigations.
I would be glad to discuss the pros and cons of this work with you.

A few laws you would break -

In 419 scams renaming a dll isnt an offence, HOWEVER if you rename a DLL to something sick then you have broken a law and will go to jail regardless of the file being a DLL.

Some areas are under investigation, you could RUIN an arrest.

Agent Provocateur - Is a criminal offence in itself.

Next we get to the distasteful part, to find them your going to have to put some horrific search terms into google, who in turn alert the authorities (I think they do, and bloody right they should too) which means your "innocent bait" becomes an international search for YOU meaning 1 pedo scum gets away because they spend millions looking for you.

@Digital-one You are mistaken on a couple of points (there are no DLL-type modalities used, and you do not go looking for them by searching Google or visiting child porn sites). In fact, you do not contact them first, ever.

That said, the possibility of ruining an arrest and/or getting yourself in deep shit with LE by blundering in without knowing exactly what you are doing is VERY real.

As others have said, this is nothing to be taken lightly. If you think you can mentally handle it and are interested in getting involved, please check out PeeJ or PM thedevguy67 to see what is really involved.

About a year back, with nothing to do on a weekend, sitting in my underwear eating Cheetos as is my wont, I turn on the television. Watch something stupid.

"Ah, a crime show! Love those!" I think as I turn on MSNBC and see there is "To Catch a Predator" which was and is an ongoing NBC sponsored investigation of these people. Law enforcement and Perverted Justice team up to get these fucks to come to a home--get filmed--get arrested.

After a half an hour, I was about to put my fist through the screen I was so angry. If I had kids, they would not have a computer until they finished graduate school! I launched a few rants about these fucks on a few fora I [Troll--Ed.] contribute to.

Anyways, PJ does good work, and one of the things the shows make clear is the quality of evidence. Of course these idiots deny everything--the excuses for showing up at a home where an adolescent is alone at, say, 3 AM make the Lads seem clever. Anyways, they have to be careful that the perpetrator initiates everything. He has to initiate contact, he has to make the suggestions to meet, he has to send pictures on his own, all of that to avoid entrapment.

Great, now I am all pissed-off just thinking of these predators.

Need to find a cat to kick. . . .

Anyways, as others have noted, recommend getting involved with professionals.

Please don't ever e-mail a pedo any type of garbage. I know how tempting it is, that will just introduce a "reasonable doubt" into the investigation. Also, it might accidentally erase evidence that is needed by the investigators.
