So I get a call today, and the pre-recorded msg offers me a week-long vacation in Florida for $99. I have a week of free time coming up in August, so I am feeling kind of interested, and press 9 for more info. I start talking to some guy with an Indian accent.
My first thought was that this was a timeshare promotion - those guys often offer free vacations to try to sell you timeshares. My brother went on one of those, and it was legit. So I asked the guy: "Are you selling timeshares?" He indignantly replied "No, but would you like to hear the details?" I asked: "Do you have a website?" He said "No, but I can tell you all about it right now!" At that point, I said I wasn't interested, and hung up.
Sounds shady - untraceable people call me and offer me the deal of a lifetime. No website. I can't see why they would give away vacations for next to nothing to complete strangers. What kind of scam are they running? |

Oh, nevermind. I just googled "vacation scam", and read about it. I am glad my scam-o-meter went off when I did.
