I was just reading about that on Yahoo news, it's bloody ridiculous what companies charge for making a simple poxy logo like that Rolling Eyes

You can just imagine the execs when they got the brief for the logo, ok then, lets use the date, the venue name and stick some olympic rings in it, oh yeah, and give it a jagged edges so it looks really cool, man Rolling Eyes

I used to work for Price Waterhouse. They merged with Coopers & Lybrand to form the world's biggest accountancy firm.

They employed a branding agency on a 6 figure contract to come up with a new name.

The result....PricewaterhouseCoopers. All one word with a capital 'C' in the middle. WTF? Poor Mr Waterhouse will be spinning in his grave at the lack of capitalisation. We weren't allowed to abbreviate it to PwC in either correspondence or conversation, as it would diminish the brand. Laughing

What they should have done was hold an in-house competition amongst the employees to come up with a suitable name. The winner getting a free holiday to the destination of their choice and the firm would have saved itself a shed loads of dosh. But I suppose that is to easy.

Needless to say, I don't work there anymore. Thank f*ck.

maybe the spent the money for the logo on some oil contracts from Nigeria.

Since someone posted on the BBC site that the logo looks like Lisa Simpson giving someone a blow job, I haven't been able to look t it without laughing!

I do agree that all the alternative ones submitted to the BBC are much better!

This one is my personal favourite out of the ones submitted to the Beeb.

If people can come up with logos like these at home or on their lunch breaks how the hell did the olympic bunch manage to fork out �400,000 for that monstrosity.

The mind boggles.

Paint and 2 minutes of my time created this.

I know it ain't perfect but with my meager skills I did my best. Anyway IMO it is better than what the olympic bunch came up with.

If I was given �400,000 I would put a damn sight more effort into it.
