Whats the best web editor to use. I used to Dreamweaver and Frontpage, but I have since upgraded to Vista ( Sad

) and Frontpage isn't part of Office 2007.

Any ideas?

It's just for my own 419 Eater web sapce.

Any halfway decent ASCII editor will do the trick.

If you have M$, then why not use notepad? You've already got that on your system, and editors like FrontPage etc are rubbish.

DW works fine in Vista (well, V8 does anywho). The last Eater site update was done using Vista/DW combo (though it will probably be the last for a while!).

See I am lazy and CBA typing out the HTML etc...

Dreamweaver is looking like the best option. Will have to get hold of DW v8.0 somehow Wink

It would be a shame to have a little eater space and not use it.

@SpamBaitSco what are you trying to create. The notepad option is fine for simple stuff (templates etc) , however the moment you want to get complicated and or involve php / asp or any server side scripting then I would recommend a combination of DW V8.x (Now with Adobe CS3 Compatibility) and or Zend for Php type development.

@Rover - It's going to be basic HTML. I don't want to go into the heavy stuff of PHP not for something so simple.

I am just being lazy and can't be bothered typing the HTML format out in Notepad.

I used a few editors years ago when I learned basic Web Design, but can't remember any names/any progs that work with crappy M$ Vista.

Take a look at http://www.scribus.net/

Scribus is an open source cross-platform page layout (DTP) program.Originally developed on Linux, Scribus also runs natively on MacOSX, OS/2 and Windows 2000/XP/Vista.

I use it on my linux machines and while I have yet to do a web page with it the capabilities should cover what you need.

PS Good luck with the new computer. And In all fairness I personally know one person who is happy with their Vista computer.

I am beginning to regret in buying Vista. Got the option of XP like I said, but can't be bothered with all the hassle of re-formatting.

All my fave webbies are backed up, it's just the stuff I use for baiting etc..

The best in the world (in my opinion) is Microsoft's Visual Web Developer. It's free, easy to use, and is the most flexible tool that I have ever seen.

Downloaded Microsoft's Visual Web Developer. Going to format this weekend and re-install XP. Then I am going to install Dreamweaver too. I've had it with Vista.

Going to back up all my bookmarks to, which is easily done in Firefox. Just going to take me a while to back up other stuff I have on my HDD. Sad

Re-installed XP so that's crappy Vista out of the way. Missed a lot of baiting time today. Mad
