So what d'ya think? I am thinking about setting up an website like MySpace just for lads and baiters. This is as far as I have got so feel free to add comments.

I agree with Gantz, not sure I understand how it would work, why would lads want to sign up? I think with the surplus mail forum and shuttle most of us have got more then enough lads to be going on with. Plus theres always the chance of unsuspecting people signing up and either getting scammed or at least being bemused/pissed off by the whole thing. Interesting idea but not sure if it could work.

I might be interested. But where exactly is the advantage to signing up at the real myspace and wait for the scammers to get in contact (usually the same day)? Only one I could think of is if they wouldn't sign up anywhere else to scam real victims. But to be THAT believable we'd have to have a dating site with tens of thousands of profiles.

@ Don: Are you saying that myspace is already being used for scams? If so what are the tell tale signs? Just curious as I've only had people advertising porno on there as the worst thing around, and would love to create a false profile to start nabbing these people. Plus if there is scamming happening on myspace it would be a good way to get the general public educated about these scams as "Tom", the myspace moderator of sorts, is usually pretty good about getting the word out about dangerous things that are hitting the site (plus with the huge population on myspace already you'd have a huge crowd that could be educated with bulletins all in one shot about the woes of these 419 scams).

yep - the romance lads are using facebook and myspace - this is how I was first scammed, by a beau that was living in Atlanta, was from the uk and needed money to come back and live with me.

The fact that she didn't know what Little Britain was started getting me suspicious. Luckily I googles 'her' yahoo id and it led to romance scams forum - there was her pic and id leaving me in no doubt

They are coming thick and fast - almost as many as the cam girl friend requests

Interesting... I shall have to do my research and make a profile for just that reason. I think Russian chicks might be a good place to start but correct me if I'm wrong (always liked a girl that could keep up drinking with me the whole night). Laughing

I take it their accounts on myspace get deleted fairly quick?

I only log onto myspace every now and then to find messages and friend requests from deleted accounts, guess I should log in more often if this is the case! Laughing

[edit] I think searching under Nigerian hit the jack pot. This summer I will definitely start up a fake profile for some stud and hit up the lads/ladettes.

K, well I think I am going to do some playing around and myspace research on the MO's of the lads this summer once college cuts out for me (3 weeks... 3... more.... weeks!!!). You're currently baiting this lad right? I'm thinking reports to Tom with the information we've collected would be a good idea to mass educate a huge portion of the internet culture on the nature of 419 scams. I don't think myspace would hold back on releasing the information either as it seems they do the utmost to protect all the legitimate myspacers.
