Just wondering, since there's obviously a scammer in London, is there any chance at all that I could get him arrested?

Worth you doing a search on this question, answer is most likely 'not likely' for what would you have them arrested? being in possession of an ugly face?
Whilst it is possible, you would have to think of what crime they have committed, are they in possession of stolen goods (cheques) and what proof there is to substantiate the claim.

This question has popped up now and again, with the same sort of answer each time.
[gripe]English Police are too busy, arresting people for possession of an egg with intent to throw, dropping litter in an aggravated manner etc.[/gripe]

Best try and get a bank account and zap it, hit them where it hurts

How are you to send the money? If it's just a WU transfer then there's little ability to locate the recipient.

There's no point in sending money to London. Abromovich already tried that and it only bought a couple of titles. Laughing

Friend of mine used to run a british pub. Someone threatened to shoot him, her maj's best were called. They turned up the next day......

I wouldn't count on them being any use, they're understaffed, face more paperwork daily than a mugu in a cash transfer. They might also try to get weird with you FF. Most likely I reckon they'd simply ignore the matter.

I've told him I want to send the money by MoneyGram so he can't trace it online. Obviously I'm giving him a fake control number, I was thinking maybe I could alert the cops/MoneyGram that a scammer will be trying to pick up �600-odd with my fake control number....?

I suppose it's a long shot and if it actually worked the cops would probably be doing it, providing they're still in the business of catching criminals?

they can't do nothing about that, no criminal act committed, no-one hurt, they might only prosecute you for phoney calls, as you're trying to scam him Smile

Forget about them showing up as well, they're lazy, net-cafe guys, and won't come to London for a sure million, as we've proven some times...

Moneygram can be picked up anywhere with the correct MTCN and Q/A.

How will you know which MG office the lad is going to pick up the money from?

As someone else said, what crime has been committed by the lad in London?

How do you know that the lad is in London??

etc etc etc

Try and get a bank account and Alan can dead it!!

I am in the UK and know if you got some solid info on this pig the police would have no option other than deal with it. If you could get a landline and a photo I think that would be enough to have his collar felt.

Why not suggest a 'face to face' exchange (with one of your colleagues if your pet knows that you are not located in the UK)? Tell him he has to be dressed in a particular way/carrying a sign etc.. and that he must stand in a particular place in full view of the webcam. You will be supposedly based in a intenet cafe close and when you see him on the webcam, the money will be brought to him.

If the sign says something like " I have smack" surely that would be enough to get him automatically arrested, by any plod in the vicinity.

Belfast isn't that far away... safari and skull all in one shot (no pun intended)? Then again I don't think No. Ireland is raging that much these days. However you could direct him to a heavily Protestant area and tell him to... wear green. You could also direct him over to a heavily Catholic area in Ireland and tell him to wear orange and hold up a sign with a red hand so you can identify him. Laughing

The trick would be to get him to go over to Ireland.
