There is indeed a challenge to the hallowed members of this forum. Members should note with great apprehension that a total of 10 million computers are shortly to be shipped to Nigeria, a country with around 140,000,000 population. Per capita, this is one new computer to every 14 residents. Making allowance for those who cannot or will not have a need for computers, it probably means that one in five or six of the population will be endowed with a new computer. This is a stunning development in the advancement of computer literacy in Nigeria. Last but not least is the economic boost to America of around $15 Billion. In a short time span, the scam mail should become increasingly literate and innovative.
Objectors should post their complaints swiftly.

. Nigerians would automatically use them for scamming? Maybe they were bought to give students a chance to learn and get better jobs. Become a 2nd world country. Or improve their infrastructure in the country. Goes along with the satellite they just launched.

Just joking, its a great thing to happen to the country but a great thing to happen to lads as well.

Many of us are hyperfocused on the ugly underbelly of Nigeria and don't think about all the decent residents of the country.

Sure, some lads are going to have access to more equipment, but I don't see how a computer in some kid's school is going to turn him into a scammer.

Actually the US is the '2nd world'. It went Old World (Europe etc), new world (thanks to various explorers running aground in the Americas) and 3rd world (everyone else), or whatever the pc label is these days (developing, under-developed, emerging etc)

Surely an influx of computers would make scams less literate though, as so many newbs join the fray.

Actually it'd be 2nd world too.

Of course Africa is really the zeroth world, 'cause we all came from there before we got to the first world... Erm make that the minus first world, because it was in the Middle East that we invented cities, so that must be the zeroth world... Actually the Developed/Developing nomenclature is better, but I'd like to see a catagory for "laid back and watching the idiots running round like their asses are on fire." - who says a country's got to develop, or that it's even a good thing?

I'm baiting fifteen scammers at the moment and not one of them is in Nigeria. Labelling the country as a centre of scamming is increasingly inaccurate as it's well and truly a global problem now.

1st world, 2nd world, 3'rd world. These are terms coined during the cold war to catergorize the state of nations in the world.
1st world is industialized developed nations
2nd world are the communist contolled countries
3rd world are the dirt poor countries.
Personally I still use these terms since I'm politically incorrect and always will be.

I remember that the terms used in my geography A-level classes a few years ago were ELDC (Economically Less Developed Country) and EMDC (... More ...). I think those were for accuracy rather than a PC outlook.

1,2,3 is becoming out of date as countries develop (Taiwan, Japan, the Pacific Rim economies, China, Latin America, Eastern Europe etc, etc).

well i live in Canada and we are fast becoming a third world country if we keep losing industry as we have been-hey i might want to take up scamming just to make ends meet lololololololol Rolling Eyes
