Is there a nest nearby that it fell out of? Bung it back in? We did that a while back and whilst the parents were wary for a bit, they did start caring for them again in the end
^ hmm not that much meat on them... |

In these situations most birds die of shock/fright so if it's not injured put it in a box with a lid (+ air holes natch) with some soft bedding and leave it in a quiet place for an hour or so. If it's not old enough to fly yet you've got a problem. You could try feeding it tiny pieces of raw meat with a pair of tweezers once it's calmed down but to be honest it's not looking too hopeful |

Oh that's so sad Weasel
There must be a nest close by that it fell from. Or create a little nest where the mama could possibly find it? |

You could do that - so long at it's raw meat and digestible. However, you are making a commitment to feed it 24/7 for a while and once you start the parents won't want to know. |

Try the nest thing or you may want to call a vet and ask what they suggest?
It looks too young to try to feed, Weasel.
Poor thing. |

Oh dear - just saw the pic - that's newly hatched. Maybe call your local wildlife sanctuary or animal welfare place for advice? Be prepared for them to tell you to leave it near the nest and let Mother Nature decide |

Sometimes they get pushed rather than fall, if the parent birds have too much work on their hands, don't they? |

Just be careful where you leave it. I was once in the horrible situation where my mother was freaking out because there were mice in her kitchen, and I found babies in the towel drawer. Here were these cute, innocent creatures and she was screaming for me to get them out of her house. So I left them out in the lawn at night thinking they would die from hypothermia. In the morning -- *horrors*-- wasps were devouring them! So I finally wound up drowning them. |

I would say try to get it back to the mom/dad, even if you can't reach very well. . . .you feeding it full time and teaching it to fly is quite a commitment.
You might be able to get the parents to come to where it is to take care of it, if you make it a safe/accessible place. Last year we found two baby birds on our lawn after a big storm, in the top of the tree, there was a destroyed nest so there was no where to put them back to! We took a wooden birdhouse and tied it up into the tree in a spot the mom could get to but cats/animals could not. After a while the parents came to the babies to take care of them.
ps. you have to chew up worms and spit them into it's mouth to feed it. |

Weasel, you have to put the poor thing out of its misery. It looks like a lost cause. Unfortunately, I have had to do this with several birds that were caught and injured by my prior cats. |

Unfortunately Weasel, if you have handled it at all the parents wont touch it as it will smell "wrong" so it's "brown bread", survival of the fittest yada yada.
I'd put it out of it's misery as hand rearing chicks is not a fun or easy hobby.
If you really want to then buy maggots form a fishing angling shop and feed it with tweezers, keeps it in a wooden box with a warming lamp, and thats all you can do tbh.
still it will only have about 20% chance (and that's being generous)
*edit, You state you havent handled it, hadn't seen that, there's a chance if you can get it into the nest again without handling it with your human smells the parents may start feeding it again, tbh it could also have been pushed out by bigger siblings as they do, so it may get kicked out again |

Go down to a pet food store and look for something called exact, and get an eye dropper. A good employee should be able to point it out. It's a powder that you mix in with water to form a liquid paste. Rub the birds beak with the eye dropper to get him to open up, and put a few drops in there. |

If you haven't touched it, then /ifwhen you do have to: wear disposable gloves. We initially did that with our baby birds, but ended up using our bare hands and the parents didn't seem to care. . . |
