How does Scampatrol work?

Hi everyone,
I've been reading the scampatrol forum today, and it's amazing. First, it gives you a lot more motivation for baiting when you see all the people posting who have been scammed.

However, A lot of people post there saying, "I got an email from someone saying they are from Scampatrol and that I am being scammed." How does Scampatrol get the email addresses of victims? How are they monitoring these scams? It's brilliant what they do - I"m just wondering HOW the hell they do it!

@ Babs.

Check the header carefully next time you get a scam.
Quite often the lad leaves in the whole cc list of who he's sent the scam too. It can be a pain, because quite often a baiter will reply without checking the cc list and email back his reply to the whole of the scammer's original mailing list.

It's probable that the guys you're talking about email the intended victims through a dopey lad's cc list.

He doesn't...he just sits around in his underwear all day in front of his computer at this website posting things that makes no sens....oh, wait a minute, you said Scampatrol forum....I thought you said Scam Patrolle...

Gosh I love this site. When I get up in the morning my biggest decision after what color socks to wear is should I see what my lads have sent me, or log onto 419Eater. Checking out the post whoring before coffee seems safer for the monitor.

I've got the that warning a couple times when baiting lads. I also asked how they got my contact information and their reply was :

DoctorPhil,

Am I correct by inferring by ^^ this bit that when you get a warning you don't immediately reply back that you are a baiter?

If that's the case, please do so in the future.

Warners have enough on their plates worrying about real victims. By letting the warner know that you're a baiter and safe the warner can leave you be and move on.

If I ever receive another email from them I would immediately tell them I'm a baiter. I think they do a great service and had no intention of wasting their time.

I hope that everyone would have the courtesy to rely with a simple "thank you but I am baiting". It will make life so much easier for the person trying to warn you. Smile

Stupid question [All of his questions are stupid.--Ed.]: can a baiter simply inform the Scampatrolers that they are baiting? Or will that create more work?

It would create more work, esp given the number of baiters and the fact that many of us make up new characters whenever the mood strikes. As TSnerd and Eight said, just thank them for the warning and tell them that you are baiting.
