Desperation! Snakes in garage!

I have pegboard on the walls of the garage. Snakes have nested behind the pegboard. I've used roach foggers to flush them out and that didn't work. A friend suggested a mouse trap, and that sounded iffy. I welcome any ideas.

How many? What species? Big or small? Poisonous? Protected species? Where (roughly) are you?

Around where I live, I have seen people use mothballs to get rid of snakes. Never tried it myself, but folks here swear by it.

try and get a mongoose they just love eating them critters.
must warn you tho,you might need gloves for the mongoose.

Or better still, call in the experts. A phone call to the proper authority [depending on where you are] will get someone out there to deal with the snakes. They usually take them away and relocate them. It's when non-experts start trying to deal with snakes themselves that accidents usually happen.

pieces of cedar -- and MOTHBALLS..........but the smell of mothballs is horrible (plus I hear it's hard to pull their legs apart)

I wanna know what kind they are, too. I like snakes! They're cool.

Sounds like you need a good hunter. I recommend you get a couple Maine Coon Cats.

I found two lying on the front of my car a little while ago. Then I realised they were vindscreen vipers.

I live in a subtropical climate and we have no mongeese. The snakes are grass snakes, I think. They were green and had a stripe from head to tail. One was under the refrigerator, and one crawled under the pegboard. I've heard about using the stinky mothballs and might have to try that.

I'll second, or third, or whatever it is at this point, the suggestion about mothballs. I've done that to get rid of some water moccasins (nasty critters, poisonous and aggressive) and it worked like a charm.

I used to go out even in the dark in bare feet, but this is a cure. The slithering noise creeped me out. Last year we had a water moccasin that crawled into the garage. A policeman was passing by and he killed it with a machete.

I can't find a picture that looks the same, but I think they are grass snakes. They are probably 3 feet long and green with a darker? stripe down the back.

Ok- they're harmless and keep rodents at bay.

If you have any friendly pre to early teens in your neighborhood, one of them would probably be chuffed as mud to relocate the snakes for you.
