Do any of you ever want to divorce a family member?
And I'm not talking about your spouse or children.
My brother is driving me crazy. He is the biggest procrastinator in the world. My mom is a drama queen, if you ever knew one. About a half-hour at a time is all that I can take of either one.
I feel guilty because I don't spend much time with them. Sad

hmmm my Grandma is a bigot who doesn't like my religion and the fact that I've only dated one white girl in my entire life (and she was Jewish Laughing

). So yeah that's one family member I haven't talked to since high school. The other side of my family drinks, fights, and then are the best of friends for the rest of the family get together's. That's always an interesting show.

Got to love family. Oh so interesting and yes you love them, you hate them, and that's makes a family! Very Happy

My mom is the biggest gossip I have ever met. She goes on and on about all the neighbors, family, friends, noone is off limits with her.

HOWEVER, We are about to lose mom any day now, so none of that matters.

I love my family and they are ok. Except for my brother in law (the husband of my sister). He is a total jerk....an alcoholic with no brain and a choleric too. You wouldn�t believe what things he can start to pout about.
Little examples:
- Sister vacuums the floor and has the vacuum cleaner in the middle of the room. He says it should be by the wall and because of this he doesn�t talk to her for hours. (I still have NO clue why THAT should matter)
- They go shopping together. She lets him out of the car and tells him that he parks the car at a certain space. Instead she parks the car at a different spot on the parking place. He was so angry about that (he doesn�t even have a driving license, so it doesn�t matter where HER car is parked), that he walked home and didn�t talk to her for a day....
....and this list could go on and on....I really don�t remember all the stuff, cause it is waaayyyyy too much...I really hate that bastard....what a stupid asshole.... Evil or Very Mad

I hope she divorces him soon. Evil or Very Mad

Growing up I always wanted a divorce from my mother. My father took care of that for me. Now I want a divorce from my step mother. Rolling Eyes

B.A.Ware, I am so sorry about your mom.

I was joking about a divorce.

She has been a great mother and she has gotten like this since she aged. She is 74 and to look at her you would not think so.
I am very lucky to still have mom and dad, ( still together. ) I never heard them raise their voice to each other. I had a great home life and I am very thankful for that.

I have one sister and one brother. I am the youngest and spoiled as they say. My sister is awesome and we are very close. Also with brother, he never grew up in a lot of ways.

I have a great Mother's Day planned for her. Wink

Might smack my brother (just kidding.) Rolling Eyes

B.A. Ware. My heart goes out to you and your family. Do cherish every day you have with her. I lost my mom at the end of September and having the support of your family and friends really helps.

Back to the subject of this thread...By early January my dad already had a new girlfriend living with him. I've spoken with him once since then. He didn't say a thing and still hasn't. I found out from my sister. Time will make things more bearable, but for now....Grrrrr. Evil or Very Mad

I feel for you also coronalight. All I could suggest is what worked in our family. Have him join the military.

My daughter just got though telling me how strange it is to email my son and get a great message in return. She says it would be full of thought, insightful, warm, touching and always positive. They talk on the phone on a regular basis. She is amazed at the transformation from a sort of jerk to someone that she's proud to call a brother. She's as excited about seeing him next month as I am about flying out next week.

This year was the first that he got anything for her birthday. Last year he gave her a rabbit which was really a first, but I put an asterisk next to it as he didn't pay for it.

I don't want to think about that and evidently I haven't.
Thanks to all for bringing it to my attention.

I love my brother and he loves me. I just tell him like it is and usually he doesn't like what I have to say because it's the truth. I'm glad that we can tell one another what we think.

My mum and I get on like a house on fire while I'm at the other side of the world. When we actually get together (Like in 2 weeks, it'll be the first time I've seen her in over a year) we argue like cat and dog Rolling Eyes

My brother and sisters (I have 5 Shocked

) get on very well, although my older sister bullied me when we were younger (she threw me through a window once...)
My Dad is my Dad, cruisy and funny, although we hardly speak at all when we're not in the same country!
Family is a funny thing, as the saying goes, you can't choose your family.

I always thought pouting was more of a phlegmatic or melancholic trait.

Can we dish about narcissistic, selfish, nosy, petty, picky mothers-in-law? Mine never utters a sentence without referring to herself. She talks with her mouth full of food, and it drops everywhere. Well, hell. Mom died 7 years ago, Dad in 73'. 4 Aunts, 4 Uncles, in the past 10 years. None ever had kids. I have one Aunt and one Uncle left in London. Hard to go see them when you live near San Francisco. Pretty much nothing left, at least on this side. They we're all good folks too. Except Dad. And his 2nd & 3rd wife.
