Maybe there is some simple logic I'm missing here. I've been baiting scammers (presumably Vlad, given the IPs) on Ebay and elsewhere to get their websites and email addresses killed off. So far, so good. But what's weird is that most of the scammers seem to want $5,900 sent. Is that some special magic number to them? |

WU has some limits on the amount you can send to different countries? Maybe $6000 is the limit. Also if they want a credit card payment, some CC companies have a auto trigger to warn you if they go over; but, after reading what I just wrote, I actually can't see how that matters in this case.
It could also be that someone told someone else that $5900 was something special and they all started believing it. Scammers can be just a superstitious as baiters (e.g. hide your IP).
Either way I'm sure it involves a limit somewhere. |
