I would expect that HRH The Queen is a bit annoyed with GWB at the moment, but in her haste to get back home I don't think it would be advisable for her to follow the instructions on Google Maps.

I wouldn't call it a flaw. I'd call it creative programing. Simply the fact that it says "swim" means that someone thought about it and realised it was silly.
The solution would have to be to add all ferry and airline timetables to their database, keep them reasonably up-to-date, and field complaints from "Mom-N-Pop Airlines" that they are not included.
I can see why they would not want to do that.
It's also purer this way; it makes no assumption about the mode of transport being used. Surely 99% of people traveling from New York to Seattle would go by air; but would you want Google to take account of that? |
