I have sent off emails to 6 diferent lads now all from different email addresses and i have recieved no replies at all. It has been over a week before i sent my first one.

Does anyone have any tips or anything on how to word emails to get them to respond. I have based my emails loosely on the initial contacts emails in the letters section.

Any tips would be gratefully recieved.
Alex

I suggest sending more. And use one email account. You are making things harder on yourself than you need to. If you are answering an email you received then just be patient. If you took addresses from old scam mail you got here, then they could have moved on. Sign some guest books and they will come.

i've been getting my scam mail from tempemail.net and i ave only been using the emails that were sent on the day i made first contact. I suppose i could have made it easier on myself with less email addys but i didn't want any lads catching on that i was trying to bait them. I will delete a few accounts.

I wouldn't delete those extra accounts. They may come in handy if you want to introduce some other characters into your baits.

If you're having trouble receiving emails, you could also ask a friend to forward some they have received. One of my friends just forwards the emails she gets to me, but I don't have a problem w/ mail flow. You could also check your spam folder in your own account for scam emails there's got to be some in there and then answer them from your bait account. I'd like to know how you don't get these emails in your real account, I get at least 2 a day in my real inbox & dozens in my spam folder, which I answer from my bait account.

All i ever get in the spambox of my main email is adverts for viagra and fake watches (this doesn't reflect my surfing habits). I have posted on message boards and everything and i always check every message in my spam.

I think it is just a metter of time.

I have managed to get myself a fairly good continuous supply of scammers just from signing a few guestbooks. I agree that it will pick up - though if you want I could send you a few addresses of the ones I can't be bothered with at the moment.

I often find that sending out a more complicated reply to the scammers (offering them a role in one of my business ventures or something like that) seems to scare them away a bit, perhaps they realise that I'm baiting? If I just keep on saying "give me more information" that works for a while but often just leads to them wanting phone numbers or bank account numbers. I guess often there's a wait until a particularly gullible scammer comes along?

Click here and reply to a dozen of these e-mails with 'I'm interested. Please tell me more.'

usually i write something specific about whatever letter i'm responding to. for some reason it gets much more replies, especially if i mention i have a bank account ready for such an operation, they come back within the hour. but if i leave it at 'i'm interested' they either forget me or come back telling me they're doubtful of my integrity. That's interesting. I seem to be getting the opposite response as I mentioned earlier, that if I keep things on their terms by just saying "that's interesting, more info please" they're more than happy to keep on sending me copy/paste rubbish, whereas if I try to change things myself by offering them something (including money) I seem to get way fewer responses.

Odd. Perhaps I need to rewrite my generic response?

@yrubraj...
If you try to pull them off script too soon, they will twig. Play along with them for a while, until they are convinced that you are a real victim, and then start to throw them a curve.

Thanks for the advice. That's what I've been thinking too - just play along with the "more information please" for a while, and then turn the tables on them after a while. I suppose that with enough scam-baiters out there the scammers are starting to know what to look for in us, and in order to trick them we need to act like we would as an innocent person.

I had the same problem at first, and now I can't seem to get an e-mail sent off without two or three new e-mails coming in. I have about 45 spam e-mails just hanging out in my inbox, PM me if you're still not getting anything and I'd be happy to forward some of them to you.

Welcome Alex.

when I reply to a mugu, I usually mention something about the content of the mail.

Example:

Dear xxxxx
I have read the content of your mail. I am very interested in your proposal. Please can you tell me more information on how to proceed with this transaction
.

The mugus like to hear words of a potential victim Laughing

I guess we were wondering whether people thought it was best to jump straight in with our twist on the scam - in the spirit of Shiver's Derek Trotter, or whether it's best to string the scammer along for a while basically just sounding interested in their proposal and going along with it - before after a few emails starting to introduce my own twist on it.

At the moment I do really well with stringing them along on their terms but as soon as I try to turn the tables on them or change things away from their 'script' they seem to largely disappear on me. Is there a gentle way to start changing things away from their script that is likely to keep them interested while slowly taking them further and further away from what they really want to be talking about?

They seem to reply better to names which are not weird. I've got a very nondescript baiter address which seems to drag them in and I play it real straight ( so far ).

My scamming name has Harry Potter links, but surely most scammers wouldn't recognise that.

Did you include their initial approach e-mail to you with your reply? That gives them a bit more confidence that you are not just contacting them out of the blue to yank their chains. I would do that and re-send your original letters.

Yeah I pretty much always include their original emails in my replies. Makes good sense that then they think you're just replying to them.

Wow those are some amazingly impressive numbers. I posted my email address in a couple of guestbooks then ended up with about 4 mails on my first day. There has been a slow, steady trickle of them since then which is just about perfect as I don't want to spend too much time trying to reply to them all. Gives me a headache trying to keep up with too many different ones at once too I have found. I start wondering whether this was the person who had a relative who'd died in (yet another) plane crash, or whether they had over-billed some job by $100 million.

What's an optimum number of scammers to be baiting from one account do people think? Can you have too many to the point where it starts to confuse you?
