If you folks have not heard about this yet..

The killer sent a package to NBC, this explains the 2 hour gap in the shootings. You can see the photos he sent and some of the video that was included in the "package".

Words seem so inadequate to express the sorrow and horror I am feeling. My heart and best thoughts go out to the families and friends of the victims and anyone else touched by this tragedy.

Monday I paced the floors. I am very close to VT, not as close as Lester.
I know about 12 students there and I am happy to tell you that all 12 of them are fine.

It is difficult for me to say anything that hasnt already been said. My heart goes out to the victims families, and the emergency workers, who are most likley feeling so helpless right now.

I have received a reference to Cho Seung Hui in the insult bait thread (under "publish your work"). It's not a plan to capitalize on the tragedy, but still, I guess the lads are aware of it by now.

i`ve just read a huge article in the paper.
`psycolagists` have discoverd why he did it. >

he was sexually frustrated, in a world where women are as poweful as men.
drinking like men, earning money like men and having casual sex......etc.

i thought the whole article was a load a crap. i wonder what else the tabloids will spin this into.
i`m very disterrbed at the news article.

IMO, spree killers are rather "boring". It's always the same motive and the same M.O. The only thing that ever changes is the place of the incident and the number of victims.

When someone decides to go on a shooting spree, his life has been a serious hell for quite a while. You do not wake up all of a sudden and go "Hey, I'm going to shoot my co-workers today". The warning signs are always there - it's always the guy who didn't fit, the guy you knew "would someday do something".

The only thing that might prevent these things is to invest more in healthcare and make psychiatric treatments more available. And be nicer to that socially inept guy in your workplace.

There are misfits in every society that, for whatever reason, cannot connect with their fellows and need some sort of violent act to justify their existence. Sadly, it is usually at the expense of others. The free availability of guns merely makes it easier for them and, to a certain extent, distance them from their victims. A distance which is already a chasm in emotional terms.

They feel they are merely a bit part actor in their own lives and this is one way to take centre stage and go out in a blaze of 'glory'. Sadly there is no happy ending.
