Tomorrow I will take part at a big demonstration in Frankfurt (15 o clock/ Hauptbahnhof) which is organized mainly by "Chaos Computer Club" (well recocgnized white hat hackers from Germany).
The demonstration is mainly against the new German laws which are giving the German Government total control over computers and its users

Well, I know about this discussion, of course. My problem: If german administratin will really try to keylog private machines: How will they do it? Those criminals will certainly use simple methods of avoiding being keylogged by not opening any attachments or by using sec progs. I'm not enough savvy to talk about Elster an so on, but I'm scared about keylogs being installed by any administration. How does Sch�uble want to install this shit on my machine? I'm really scared about this. Maybe a thread should be opened for this topic, and this would be better than any PWT. Of course I know it's a political theme and so we should move this to another site. But where? |

the police in Germanywants to get back the right to do a "electronic house-search" by using a "government trojan" which gives them total control over every private computer concerned and lets the machine do whatever the cops want (they did it secretely until a court stopped them last week)

Well, the "government trojan" in the ELSTER-Software was (thank god) an April's fool by the CCC, see http://www.ccc.de/updates/2007/bundestrojaner-elster at the bottom of the page.
But the "government trojan" itself is in fact currently in development (or already finished, the media is not conclusive here) and shall be used to search through the computers of any suspects online.
Using this method, even encrypted drives with tools like http://www.truecrypt.org/ can be accessed, once the user unlocks them.
Another reason to run governmental software on a seperate computer or at least in a sandbox. |

I have just discovered the update
anyway the demo was not only against the Elster-form and the Government-trojan which was actually used until last week when it was stopped by a court-rule
The Government actually introduces new laws ruling internet, phones and a so-called "Vorratsdatenspeicherung" where every internet provider for Phone, email-services etc. has to store all relevant data for 6 months |
