For some reason I have managed to go through my internet life without getting any e-mails or faxes about dead Nigerian grandmothers or oil tychoons in financial distress. Then today I got two, both probably well known among you here. A mr. Marc Dietrich in Dutchux (would that be Dutch hoax?) consultants wants to give me accsess to investments of conciderable value in Deutche Bank AG, made by an unknown relative whos name he can't disclose. Then a mrs. Cecilia Moore of the Uk National Lottery wants to give me 1.000.000,00 because she likes my e-mail adress.
This pisses me off. I got a boring job with unlimited computer access. I want to combine this.
I will read, listen and learn. This looks like fun.

Welcome GJ -- glad to have you on board. As you wisely noted, reading is the key here. Read the stickies, read some published baits (you've presumably read some of Shiver's already). Remember to start slowly and build up a head of steam before going for the trophies. They are all the more sweet for the waiting.
Have fun and bait safe! |

The mods here, love you already.
Welcome to Eater. That flash you saw just flit in front of your eyes, was your spare time flying out the window. |

Halleluja!

Thank you.
As I have some relatives in Germany, I checked out mr. Dietrich before proceeding (Who knows? Maybe aunt Hilda had finally laid the reciever on for good, after all?).
I don't mean to sound paranoid, but I think I will do most of my baiting from work. I sit behind some of the strongest firewalls in the country here, and the g-mail account I accuired for this specific purpose can be swamped to heaven and back for all I care. I look forward to see what you do with the scammers. |

If you think I take this cloak and dagger stuff to seriously, feel free to slap me around a bit. |

I would be careful doing baiting from work, incase you do something your boss would frown upon. Unless you are the boss, in which case you should give a bonus to the first employee to get a mugu safari. |

Ouch.
I am establishing an identity. Should I put any work into him, or would that be a waste of time?
And should I ask about theese things elsewhere? |

My boss is a major hospital, and if they can do without me, the current employment situation is a bit different than I thought. Also, we got a little something called Employment Acts in this country.
Thanks for your concern, though. |

^^Geo, we don't work harder than the lads, however, I for one, say that setting up a persona is a good idea. I use word to set up :
name, address, phone, personality, etc so I can check back if I get questions and try not to get mixed up (failed miserably 3 times but managed to recover all 3)
It helps when you get into the realms of being several people, either with the same or different lads. When you pick up a new lad you can select your most suitable persona. |

This gives the youthful role playing sessions some meaning... Do I need a dice set? |

Unless you are really lucky and have stumbled on a dipweed lad, best bet is to play it safe, bait as a straight gullible mark but ask lots of questions, 1 at a time, repeat as required. Check out the help, hints and tips section for ideas about WU, sending id etc.
Aim 1 - Get him off script
Aim 2 - keep him going
Aim 3 - Maybe get id of his
Aim 4 - still keep him going
Aim 5 - Learn how their scripts pan out (good practice for the next one)
Don't worry about getting trophies, pictures etc, delaying him for a long time slows him down and may prevent him from a real target. Set yourself little goals, e.g. how many times can you give him WU info, can you get a bank account out of him?
Bait safe, have fun. |
