Here's my story of a very odd scammer pretending to be a US Marine in
Iraq and asking for gifts to be sent. I put this online and I'm trying
to spread it as much as possible so others don't fall for her lies and
waste their time and money that could actually support real soldiers.
The woman claims to have several Purple Hearts and to have been a POW.

This is a bit out of our usual line, since it is not advance fee fraud, which is why a fellow mod has moved it to General Chat.

I have only skim-read it so far, because I am trying to multi-task and don't have the time right now, but I have to say, I have my doubts. On a cursory look at the email exchange, I am not 100% sure it is a scam. I would request that anyone who proposes to act on SV's post assures themselves that it is a scam before doing so.

I guarantee it's a scam of some type. While it may not involve large sums of money (yet) the individual is claiming to be something she is obviously not, and has requested packages be sent to her address from who knows how many people. It may not be high profile, but it's definitely shameful.
