I think all following discussions about macks versus pe see, Windows versus Linux etc. should be locked. The mod team locks every other discussion about faith and religion. I think it's time to start cracking down on the silicon zealots.

I find it's a common misperception among mac users these days that linux is too hard for anyone to use. Try a modern user-friendly distribution like the newest Ubuntu, it really isn't like the linux of even, say 1 year ago.

Well I also game but SuSE or Mandrake would be my OS of choice...

Just no point dual booting and I have never had a (bad) virus either, but I used to spend all day cleaning customers machines.

I agree with kickstart. i once had quite a bit of spyware on my pc but i fixed it of course it killed itself some months ago and i have yet to get a new motherboad.

yes i use xp but it came with the laptop and i use open office otherwise.

i have 3 problems with macs.

1) no right click. do you know how much time you waste moving up to the tool bar each time, its just more effective.
2) no CAD software. kinda important for an engineering major.
3) cant play games. ya you think your so cool with your imovie and stuff, but i can beat you in soldat cause you cant even play. hahaha.

I'll give you the other 2. But I don't use CAD for anything & I'm not a gamer. From a bait point of view, I've had some success telling lads I use an Apple computer & that's why they can't open any of my attachments in windows. Very Happy

I use a mac and I love it. I used a PC for years and grew sick of the problems it gave me. Vista has to be the worst release yet. Windows 3.1 was probably their last decent operating system.

I would love to try linux and might install it on my mac with parallels.

ok buy a 2 button mouse but does it work to right click stuff instead of going to the toolbar? and i know most people dont use cad but i do.

my aversion of macs comes from a use of old school imacs so i guess much has changed. i imagine by the time that this laptop fails me i will get a mac and just use boot camp so i can run solidworks, my cad program.
