I watched a dubbed Japanese horror movie called "Audition" last night. Have any of you seen it? The last 15-20 minutes were about as great/disturbing as any movie I've ever seen. What are your favs?

Audition is great, the Japanese are turning out some top notch stuff like the Ring trilogy, the Grudge etc. For disturbing, the dinner table scene in the Texas Chainsaw massacre alwys works for me or just about any scene in Cannibal Holocaust. Dario Argento movies are also worth checking out for excellent imagery, as are Lucio Fulci and Mario Bava, and check out David Lynch's Eraserhead for totally surreal and disturbing.

The decapitated head that grows tentacles and scuttles away in the remake of The Thing!

Or any part of Alien - I still can't watch that film on my own. Shocked

There's bit in The Excorcist where they suddenly cut to a tube train entering a station - made me jump out of my seat!

Also the guy trapped under the ice in Omen creeps me out.

The bit in 'An American Werewolf In London' where Jenny Agutter gets her kit off in the shower. And the other bit at the end of the film with the spoof porno movie. Laughing

Another film worth watching for great/disturbing scenes is Michele Soavi's Dellamorte Dellamore as it's superb. I believe it was released in the US as Cemetery Man.

I've always liked the brief semi-subliminal pictures in the Exorcist.

In Legion, Exorcist III- the scene where the figure wearing the sheet stalks after the nurse was well done.

"Cabin Fever" -- the scene where the girl shaves her legs in the tub and her skin starts coming off with every swipe -- and she's so freaked out she keeps shaving.... Shocked

A film called "Tenabrey" Or Tenerbrey or Tennabrai I don't know how to spell the bloody thing.
I saw it when I was 15 and it really made me jump. Alot.

Also, the Texas Chainsaw massacre. Original, not remake pants.
I was watching that at a friends house, again while I was about 15 and had to walk home afterwards. As I was walking past the workingmens club the airconditioning fan turned on and it sounded just like a chainsaw. Shocked

I've neve been as scared or run so fast in my life.

Oh dear, where to begin...

I heard Audition was excellent. I want to see that one.

For me...

The 'Barrel Roll' sequence in the Herschell Gordon Lewis film 'Two Thousand Manaics' -- Hell, the whole movie. Great example of grindhouse style horror

The first kill in the original Nightmare on Elm St.

The whole Italian movie 'Bloody Pit of Horror'

And I have to say I enjoyed the duel between Freddy and Jason in Freddy Vs. Jason

All this being said, I'm looking forward to the Rodriguewz / Tarantino 'Grindhouse' movie

Just about any scene from Don't Look Now.

But especially the scene near the end where the midget in the yellow rain coat pulls out the straight razor in the back alley in Venice. Shocked

Anyhoo..My one would have to be the bit in the Exorcist when your woman comes down the stairs like an upside down Salamander..Freaky as shmuck..

I like those fast animated montage scenes in the film "Event Horizon" when he grabs the guy's head.

Things that made me go ouch include the bit where the kid in the SK film "Sleepwalkers" sticks a pencil into the cops ear and that bit in "TCM" where he sticks that girl on a meat hook.

Oh and I consider anything with Tom Hanks to be a horror movie. He never fails to make me projectile vomit during every single one of his films. I lost about twenty-three pounds during "The Green Mile".

The best horror movie scenes are the end credits on any romantic comedy I've been forced to watch, or better yet, when the missus says she's going to watch it upstairs so as not to bother me...

Other than that, not sure if it's legitimately horror, but recently watched the Korean film "The Host". Loved it. The scene where the creature first attacks by the side of the river, bloody marvellous!!!

Event Horizon gave myself and my coworkers the severe creeps when we watched it together. That and Exorcist had a lot of spook you out of your seat moments.

I should have mentioned two films called (originally enough) Nekromantik and Nekromantik II. Now, I'm not easilly offended, or sickened, but those two films really should never have been made! Shocked

@Hekate, you're right, Jorg Buttgereit films are pretty sick, that goes too for Der Todesking and Schram.
Has anyone here seen the August Underground movies, like Mordum. They are totally beyond anything else i've seen.
