I joined 419Eater yesterday and went back in a little later to check for responses and my post was altered ... words and phrases were changed to make it sound laughable. I was furious and emailed the admin ... in the meanwhile I changed my post to Bye Asshole. The admin emailed me back to say everyones posts were altered ... April Fools joke. I was not amused.
Given that this scam came to a head for me just a couple of weeks ago, I felt further abused by the prank. Not nice and certainly not the site for me.
Perhaps the good people at 419 should remember what it feels like to experience the loss of a relationship and a wad of cash by way of SCAM (not to mention the myriad of feelings that follow). I am not entirely the same person I was a few weeks ago and wonder if I ever will be again.

I would steer you towards http://www.scamvictimsunited.com

That is a support site for people that have been vicitimized by scammers.

Please forgive us, we need to blow off steam once and a while. Don't let one prank affect your opinion of the entire eater community. Some here are former victims and understand the pain that comes from being scammed. Everyone needs to laugh once and a while otherwise you would go insane. You just joined at an unfortunate time.

I am not sorry for this site. I *am* sorry you had some trouble. If you felt there was a problem you could have PM'd a mod who would have explained and probably recommended that you come back in a day. I definitely recommend visiting http://www.scamvictimsunited.com who are much more focused on scam victims and have developed the skills required to deal with them. Additionally, we have seen that victims who come here are not well suited to baiting. There is too much emotional involvement.

^^ Yup. Got bothersome. Anything more than the one day would have been overkill.

It's important to remember that not everything is about you. Sometimes things are going on before you got there, and it is almost always a good idea to lurk for a bit and read before just jumping in and irking everyone. Besides, it's the internet on April 1st...

Don't feel too bad about it. Even though I don't really agree with their policies, the people on this board really do care about helping victims. But they are weird sometimes. Like others have suggested, you should go to places that are specifically for victims.

^^^Please do DP! We're all on the same side. It was just a very strange day. Usually, (Always), we're quite serious about this. But, of course, we laugh a lot too. There's a ton of good info here, and you are always welcome!
