I'm a newbie here too, but I presume Vlad is just short for Vladimir - a common Russian man's name, that is, the man puportedly sending the pictures of beautiful models to unsuspecting victims.
People might also say Dims after the common Russian name Dimitrii.

We call the 419ers Lads as in Lads from Lagos. For the Russians its Vlads (Vladimir is right) |

It's a simple play on words and is a lot easier than calling them Boris....plus we can avoid the entire 'es' plural thing. |

Thank you!  I am just surprised that there are actually females too.. I just always assumed these were nothing but guys pretending to be females. |

We still need something to describe scammers from the Philippines if anyone has any suggestions. I've been calling then phads (pronounced "fads") but if anyone has a better idea then feel free to contribute. |

Short for Vladimir is Vova or Volodya.
Vlad is short for Vladislav. |
