I get to experience the joys of surgery tomorrow! Tonight I get to try out the happymeds that should disorient me enough that I won't have a screaming panic attack when they try to stick the needle in to sedate me (I have a severe phobia of needles), and after the surgery in the morning I get to be on vicodin for a while.
The reason I bring this up is so the mods will know to suspend me for a while if they see me trying to post in the next couple days. I have enough trouble posting sensibly as it is without being high on something.
(I'm getting my wisdom teeth out, by the way, so nothing too major.) |

good luck! I had 2 of my wisdom teeth taken out last year but i'm not a fan on going under so I only had local. The dentist was kinda shocked that I just sat there w/o a peep. of course I did make sure I took my pain killers after the surgery on a timely schedule
Hope you have a quick recovery! |

Don't worry about it! I got my wisdom pulled 3 years ago. I closed my eyes, opened them, and it was done. Just after the surgery, I was a little disoriented, but after that, it was fine. I didn't feel nauseated or bad or anything, I just couldn't eat! You'll be fine too. Your breath will smell bad for a few days, and you won't be able to talk for 2 days at most. Have fun tomorrow! |

I had all 4 out a while back. Not too bad, I was under the entire time, it helped. They had to break them inside the jaw and haul the pieces out apparently. So yes. Asleepies good.
Apparently I said some pretty wacky things on the car drive back home. Do not remember.
Follow their instructions. Dry socket is NOT fun, I had 3 go fine on me, and one not so much. That one was not pleasant, so follow their instructions to the frickin letter.
I've only had to be medicated for a needle once, and I was pretty young and a little in shock from splitting my chin open, but I do not enjoy those at all either. |

Thanks, everyone. I'm pretty sure the various medications are going to be the hardest part for me - I'm a bit underweight and drugs tend to affect me particularly strongly.
Speaking of drugs...

Okay, NOW I'm concerned. The carpet in my house is this godawful pink and there is NO way they're going to find a rug to give me that'll look good on it. |

You'll be just fine. I had all four wisdom teeth taken out about 10 years ago. Done under a general aneasthetic, woke up on the table immediately after, a little woozy, no nausia. Worse aspect to it was getting home about three hours later to find my mouth quarter full of congealed blood. Hope my gall bladder removal goes as smoothly. |

Psssst - if you find you have no need for all your v1c0d1n there's someone here who can help you out. No questions asked. Strictly cash via WU, natch.
Wisdom teeth are best removed when you don't know about it. I had a couple out with a jaw full of novocaine local and I didn't feel a thing, but I heard every crunching moment........ and yes, follow the post-op instructions to the letter. You'll be fine - promise. |

I had all four of mine taken out recently under local anaesthetic. I was mostly just bored for the four hours it took - I even had to get up in the middle of it to go to the loo
You get some interesting looks in a dental hospital when you wander around with swabs in your mouth....
So, if you're having it under general anaesthetic, I wouldn't worry too much |

Let me begin by saying that, as a concerned member of this forum, I really don't think you should take them, especially since you are a tad underweight. I suggest you send them to the RCNPKD (Reprob8 Center for Narcotic Pain Killer Disposal). It's a free service - one of the many I provide for the benefit of all mankind. However, if you insist on taking them, I suggest you extract the nasty acetominophen from them using the cold water method. That way you get all the tasty hydrocodone goodness without the evil tylenol elves eating away at your liver. On the other hand, screw it, send them to RCNPKD. |

I did the all 4 out with the bolt cutters as Ip ^^^ did. Not fun but I was lucky to have no dry sockets nor infections and spent a whole week fishing on sick leave. It's not the same for everyone so best of luck.
I do remember the next morning meeting a very nice girl that looked like a chipmunck, well we both did, and we looked at each other and just started laughing, It hurt laughing so much I never even thought to get her number
That was a very long long time ago. |

Mrs. Giascopato had to undergo this four-at-a-time-operation some years ago. What a pleasant way back home. You should have seen my brand new car after that
And the next days ....

I'm pretty weak to painkillers. Take one and I'm good for at least three days. When I had mine pulled, I didn't finish the codeine, and I still have them in my fridge, if anyone's interested |

^^^^^ Funny you should mention that. As I told Dolores earlier in the thread, the RCNPKD would be glad to relieve you of the burden of having codeine in your fridge. Feel free to contact me to use this service which, as I said, I offer for the benefit of all mankind. |
