My dad had the same problem with the neighbor's cats. They were forever pissing and pooping in his yard, leaving footprints all over the cars, etc.
I bought him a high powered squirt gun and filled it with diluted vinegar. After a few sessions of "target practice" on the cats' butt ends, they gave his yard a WIDE berth. The cats came out of it wet and stinky, but unhurt, and the neighbor got to play a fun game of "what's that smell" when they ran home.  |

To be honest, I'd really like another dog. The old FatBoy was pretty useless, but the cats stayed away when he was around. Wouldn't work though - we're all out at work/college all day & it wouldn't be fair leaving a dog alone in the house. Mind you, when the great day of Retirement comes along.... |

^^ In the last year or so, he didn't get about much - arthritis got to him. When he was younger, he had a wonderful "lights on - nobody home" kind of expression & would go mad if he saw a cat, or a magpie. |
