Why not ask him if he's writing down the number by pen or pencil - as if it makes a difference. Laughing

Then ask to see a scan of what he is writing as maybe his writing is causing the problem.

I recall that in the early days of scan reading technology there used to be a form that was painfully difficult to complete making writing numbers using guide marks a really painful challenge - cue forms Very Happy
