Ran upon this browsing the net, I read a lot on scamming but not
the Nigeria Govt. ya mates give some info this. How true?
THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT IS IN ON THE SCAM
This scam is often referred to as the 4-1-9 scam, ironically
after section 4-1-9 of the Nigerian Penal Code which relates to
fraudulent schemes. While the Nigerian government periodically
makes grand statements that it is cracking down on the scam, it
isn't -- for the reason that the scam was, according to some reports,
the third-largest industry in Nigeria!!! This is just too large a business f
or Nigeria to crack down on -- it would be like Nevada trying to close
the casinos.
There have been numerous reports of high-level officials of the
Nigerian government and the Central Bank of Nigeria
personally participating in this scam, even to the extent of giving
dupes tours through government buildings and showing them piles
of cash in the vault of the Central Bank! |

Dunno about the Govt but seems like the police turn a blind eye http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/10/26/419_cyber-cafe_rumpus/ The Nigerian government sounds so bent however that it would hardly be a surprise. |

Considering there was a report in todays Sunday Times about Kim Jong Ils counterfeit and forgery business, (apparently he makes the best fake dollars in the world) with the amount of corruption going on in the Nigerian government, it would hardly be surprising. |

Corruption in the Nigerian government has been reduced ever since Obasunju was elected, but in reality he can't eliminate the problem, especially when coming into power in a country that some of the worst corruption on earth. |
