No way, it was totally unusable. Crashed after a couple of mins every time I booted it (and it was 2 bloody months out of warranty and Apple didn't want to know) unfortunately a cup of coffee got spilt on it and the insurance paid for my new machine

They do, but loosing 40 gigs of mp3's did not put me in a good frame of mind

Coffee seems to do nasty things to hard drives. Not an experiment i'd recommend anyone to try at home. I do back up my data every week nowadays, I learned that one the hard way cause "It'll never happen to me" Crying or Very sad

Shiv, you were tops in my book after I found this site, and I honestly have to say that you have now elevated yourself! I just went from years (way back to Dos 3.1 even) on Windows to the Mac starting last October. I only turn on the windows machine once a month to remember what the patches were like!

Oh - my 22 inch Dell widescreen shows up this week, for my Mac-mini - yeah!

Loving the OS so far. I have a niggle though. When main apps are "closed" by clicking on the "X" (as per Windows) they don't actually close, but just minimize. Is there something I'm missing, other than clicking apple-q ?

No, I haven't read the online documentation yet!

Damn, but this OS is FAAASSST!

Shiv, this is a thing that a lot of noobs ask about the Mac.
Clicking the X closes the app (some/most of them) to the point where they make the memory available to other applications,
but are ready to be launched again very quickly as they don't have to go through a complete load.
But, if you really want to close them all the way, "right" click them in the dock and select Quit from there.
Otherwise they will just go away if you shutdown or restart your system, something that you won't have to do much of with OS X.
Remember - the base of OS X is Linux-like, not a bloated DOS application.
Minimize is a whole 'nother thing with OS X.

Thanks for the info Wannem. The X thing was bugging me for a while but now I'm getting into it Smile

The only thing I don't like so far is the mouse tracking. I have set it to about 95% so that I can get across all 24 inches of the screen in quick time, but it is a little frustrating that when I slow down to approach a small objects (such as the minimise/maximise buttons etc.) the mouse speed slows to a crawl. I know this is a deliberate feature to enhance accuracy, but it's something I'm not sure I like.

Can I just say; I know it's a small thing, but Expose is a brilliant feature!

EDIT: Also, WHY doesn't the Mac version of Firefox have an import bookmarks feature? I can't seem to be able to import the bookmarks I saved from my PC Firefox Sad

As for the FF bookmarks, I've never moved/imported them from a PC, but this link may help http://kb.mozillazine.org/Bookmarks

I don't use the mouse tracker function. I'm only on a 17" screen right now. I'll have to check it out when I get my new 22" one. But, I have my own KB and mouse (Logitech S530) on a mini - and really like it.

Expose is your best friend for sure, but wait until they release Leopard 10.5 and you get Spaces!
