Bed a - I'd snap something off the headboard during a passionate encounter with the wife
Bed b - Legs that shape don't belong on a bed. A display cabinet maybe but not a bed.
I voted for Boney M. that or the one SP posted up.

A stubborn practical streak would make me lean toward B.

A is a lovely bed, but it would be 1) easy to damage 2) a bugger to dust. If you are much more gentle with your furniture than I am, (I can run into the damned bureau and leave a scratch with stunning regularity), or you pay someone to do the cleaning, or consider a fluffy layer of dust a protective coating, it could be a good option.

B is equally lovely, and a whole heck of a lot easier to keep clean and doesn't seem to have as many fiddly bits that could easily get snapped off when you're flipping the mattress, changing the sheets and whatnot.

I've been gifted with extremely dainty, delicate cherry furniture by a great-aunt. While it's beautiful to look at, it's impossible to maintain in anything like good condition. I've practically vowed I'm buying a metal bed next go-around.

As a furniture restorer, I would defiantly go for bed 'A'. Lots of little bits to break off and it's dark , so easy to repair. Wink

Most of this kind of furniture is made in Kashmir by craftsmen that work from home or on the street. They turn out some amazing stuff.
Keep it well away from central heating though, or you'll be looking at a pile of matchsticks within a year or so.

Once again I agree with MrsBean. I didn't want to get into the headboard head banging imagery but what's a bed for, other than eating in and sleeping? It would be a turn off to have something break off. Metal beds are the way to go, easy to clean and they make such a sexy noise until you have kids.

I have my great granddads iron bed that was made in 1870's. It has a tall headboard and has lots of design. It does not make any noise. Embarassed

Spend the money on an expensive mattress instead.

We bought one with 500 pocket springs, and it improved our lives no end. Also a quality pillow. This way you appreciate what you spent even with the lights off.
