Can anyone point me in the right direction for free downloads/programmes (not just the free trials/pay later) for an internet history cleaner(permanently deleted non recoverable) that works with win 98 (se i think???) ie6 and mozilla 2.0

Also does anyone have a recommendation for a freebie that detects keylogging/password spying programmes on your pc?

Really safe mate. There simply aren't any keyloggers for macs out there and the last virus I remember even causing a slight stir in the Mac comunity was the autostart worm back in the mid 90's and that was on PC's too.

But you honestly don't need to panic

Windows seems alot easier to exploit then OS X, possibly cause OS X is unix based but you are also right, it is worthwhile to release viruses for (less then actually) 10% of the market

It's not strictly true to say that the Apple Mac's OS is a 'safe' computing environment (see http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/malspyware.html), however it is definitely light years ahead of Windows in that area for sure!

Thing is the reports here came from these guys: LMH and Kevin Finisterre, They are totally dedicated to pulling apart OS X and most IT people take their reports with a pinch of salt (lab condition testing is what they use, not real world stats and any OS could be hacked this way) This:http://www.extensions.in.th/post/viri/viri.html gives a much better views of mac 'viruses' but LMH and Finisterre are totally unreliable sources and have come under a lot of fire from UK magazines about their methods, so you are not about to contract a virus on a mac (yet)

Donato: You should also try WinPatrol.
The program alerts you whenever a new program tries to install itself. Very handy if you are browsing malicious sites with Windows.
