Is there a way to add folders in Gmail?

You mean as opposed to labels?? In Gmail you can assign a label to every message if you want. Go to the pull down menu at the top and you'll see "create a new label" which will attach itself to every selected message. So you can have one for Soludo, one for Abacha, one for Barrister Kufi and so on.

^^^ Thanks. I knew about the "labels", but was hoping I could somehow create a folder for each one.

Labeling a message then archiving it is like putting it in a folder. Clicking the appropriate label from the menu on the left displays all messages in that label, as if they were all in the same folder. The only real difference is that one message can have several different labels associated with it.

I cannot stand the way gmail is set up. They completely go against normal convention in the email accounts. It kills me not having just normal folders for crap. I was thinking maybe there was a trick... but it seems not.

The beauty is that you can assign more than one label. So it is like putting the email in more than one folder.

How many times have you not been able to find an email because you can't remember which folder you put it in? E.g. you had an email from the ex-missus just before Christmas. Did you file it under "Personal" or under "Greedy Grasping Parasitic Begging Letters"? Dunno, can't remember.

I love Gmail...you can stick emails into more than one "folder". It's very convienient, IMO.
