On the advice of some members I downloaded Rawshooter to edit NEF files.
However, when I tried to open a file, the program claimed there were no Raw files found (even though there definitely are NEF files stored on the PC).
I have today realised that when I first opened Rawshooter there was a screen that pops up that allows me to register the product. it says : 'in order to use your copy of Rawshooter Essentials 2006 it will now be registered online...'
When I click on send(proceed), it says 'registration failed' - 'registration will be attempted next time you open Rawshooter'.
Sure enough : everytime I open Rawshooter the same thing happens.
I've uninstalled and re-installed Rawshooter but the problem persists...
Might this have something to do with it? My guess is that it does, because there are definitely NEF files stored on my PC
Anyone have a clue?

If I remember correctly I had the same issue. Every time I tried to register it couldn't conect to the server until one day it worked. But I could still work with the program.

You need to tell RSE in what folder your NEF files are and it automatically opens thumbnails of all your NEF files.

@tae : yep, you're right... I finally figured it out : it seems that if you click on the subfolder your NEF image is in, then Rawshooter finds it, but if you click on the folder (which contains the said subfolder..) it doesn't.
I find this strange but it must be due to my computer inability I s'pose.
All I need to do now is figure out how to "save" my edited pictures....

ok, I admit total stupidity : rawshooter, via batch convert, automatically saves the edited version.

.... I stand corrected... I'm dumber than I look....

it would seem that - if you edit the NEF file in Picasa - it still shows up on your PC as a NEF file, or rather the 'name' is still DSC_0003.NEF for example, but Picasa has converted the file to JPEG, which is why Rawshooter doesn't find it.

Okay, finally got this program up and running, and I must say I'm impressed.
But whilst my oroginal Raw (NEF) file is about 5Mb, after editing my converted file sudenly is 34.9Mb...
Is this normal?
