Hi guys,

I webmaster a dating site that currently allows free messages between members (until the members numbers increase and we can successfuly start charging)

Unfortunately, on most days, our members are subjected to a torrent of 419's.

I get notice of these and delete the new member.

But i occured to me - why not bait them or post the info on here so you guys can show me how it's done.....?

Anyways - let me know your thoughts - like the subject line says "419's aplenty"

By all means go ahead and post them in the surplus letters forum. We have many folks who love baiting the love scammers. Better yet, start baiting them.

I do hope you will add a warning on your home page to make people aware of these scammers.

Howaya Side, welcome to Eater, what you should do is post the scammer details in the love/dating scams forum. we`ll need the addy, the IP and the general jist of the scam, or if you could keep a copy of the message they send out and post that aswell. any pics that they upload would also be useful,

Edit, even better than the home page, attach a scammer warning to every message Very Happy

Hi guys,

I will post today's 419 in the right section (i hope!) forgive me if i get it wrong.

If i start baiting these lads, would it be "ethical" to get a trophy pic of them burning $5 of their currency...? I just think that would be hilarious!

Lotta - i have already added this warning to my page tonight - great minds think alike! (http://tinyurl.com/ykywao) it's a TinyURL cos i dont want the site name published please.

there`s a big shamrock on the tab with your site, and with the name of thte site, i presumed you`d know some Irish!!

i`m putting in a profile that should attract the scammers(well all profiles do, cos they never seem to look at them), but hopefully deflect any real people, wait til you see the pic!

Why the goat obsession?.... i don`t really know, have a good look through the pictures section and you will see a few, i think and i say again i think cos i`m not quite sure, but in some African societies, goats and all other livestock are highly valued. the mention of the cattle in my siggy is from requirements for a wedding Laughing

There's actually a good explanation why the lads prefer goats over other livestock.

Goats can be kept on very little land, have quite a varied diet, are cheap to buy, easy to look after and you can still get your milk, cheese, skin and meat from them.

I've bought a few for poor families out in Africa. Last one was for my daughter's Christening present.
