My newly-adopted dog, Timmy, just graduated from his 8 week obedience school. On day one, the instructor brought out live rabbits and every dog in the place went apeshit trying to eat them. On the last day, I had to tell him to sit and stay, then leave the room. The instrutor put a rabbit right in front of him and took these pictures. He didn't get up till I returned to the room and told him to.

oH MY gOD! Bunnies! Bunnies! I love bunnies! Wow, that's brilliant. Fantastic that dogs are getting special 'leave the bunny alone' training.

(TS Nerd ... as a fluffy bunny yourself you should be careful before talking about rabbits being eaten ...)

I have it on good authority that I'm too old to have to worry about that. Laughing

R8, you DID ask the trainer if this ever ended not so happily for Mr Bunny, right? Any horror stories?

We've had two retired greyhounds. They make great pets, but I don't think they'd do that great on the wabbit test. Laughing

On one of the greyhounds we decided to see what it would do with a Guinea Pig. Yeah, I know, not too bright. So we set the Guinea Pig down in front of the dog. The dog sniffed it, sat down and looked up at us. While we were busy congratulating ourselves the dog reached down and took a quarter size hunk of fur out of the little rodent.

We didn't try that again.

your dog trainer sure knows their stuff as rabbits are the end of all
good gundogs.

wild rabbits has created a house dog out of mine.

when does the trainer bring out the cats???

Jayhawk - great that you have greyhounds!!! We're trying to adopt a couple of retired greyhounds from the local track, but we need to do a bit of life-adjustment first (like not being away from home for a lot of time).

Well, the only rodents in our house are dead and in the freezer for the snakes, so not too worried about that.

R8 - as always, you're, erm, photo adjustment skills left me giggling. Fortunately on this occasion, I'd just swallowed my mouthful of coffee before I got to that pic! Makes a change. Laughing

Here's the link to the website. If you look closely at the pics, you can see the head instructor, Frank, only has one arm. I've often wondered if one of the rabbits bit it off.
