Sadly not a real one, the Harley XR750 is a real legend, the alloy engine version came out in 1972, and has dominated US flat track racing ever since. There was also a road race version.

I have XR750 on my Ebay search list, real ones are rare and unaffordable to us ordinary mortals. I think this as near as I'll get, a cast metal 1/10 replica, produced by Harley, bought off Ebay (US), and delivered by the postie this morning. Here it is on top of my monitor, where it will live:

The wheels (and chain) turn, the suspension is sprung, as is the clutch lever. There are no brakes, they are for wimps! (Actually they'd just make you fall off on shale, you slow down by putting the bike sideways Shocked

)

As great as the colour is, the model kind of reminds me of the indian in that great movie.

Roy, That is truly a legend bike. Next up are you going for the cafe racer version?

It was made in 1977 and 1978.

/\/\ A different thing altogether, the XLCR had a stock 1000cc Sportster motor, and some very radical (for 1977) cafe racer bodywork.

The XR750 is a hand-built race bike.

It's no coincidence that my own Sportster has wide bars and is in Harley Racing Orange. That and the model are probably as near as I'll ever get. A quick Google search found a non runner for sale 'for display only' at $37,500. Shocked

No doubt my lads would sell me one cheap, cash via WU of course.

Here's a real one, ridden by one National Champion, Mert Lawwill in 1974, then passed on to Mike Kidd, who won another championship in 1981 on it.
