I have turned a money scam into my lad now eager to represent artists to receive a grant. In doing this I have sent him an application document for each artist to fill in, page III which is below.

My concern is this. Some baits require us to send 'official looking' documents etc. How concerned should I be that my lad will use these for his own purpose in the future?

If this is a concern..what's the way around this if documents need to be sent?

Should I have maybe made the document with a more 'photo-copied look' which would hopefully have fooled my lad but not Joe Public? I resisted this in my eagerness to bait him. Sad

Advice please. Confused

One adage here is to make the lad do all of the work. That being said, there are going to be situations where you have to develop some infrastructure, such as the form you've created, if you are serious about setting a hook deep inside of him. I've used some so-called WU forms that baiters here have made available for our use.

I don't have the experience here that some others have, so it's difficult for me to comment as to the chances of your work being re-cycled. I'll defer to those who are more expert.

I'm sure that everyone here will be glad that you're thinking this one through. Good luck, and good baiting.

As you pointed out, I am serious about setting the hook deep inside which is why I went for a 'professional' look to the document...but it is a concern.

I think it'll be ok. Any serious artist who received such documents would no doubt try to google The Mel*** Wor** A*t Fou**ation and realise it was a hoax.

What Barry said. Lad forms tend to be things that will help them move forward in a scam - a fake passport for identification, proof that a trunkbox is being held at a consignment company, that sort of thing. They are interested in forms that will help money come to them, not the other way around. Why would they have you fill out a form applying for a grant? Unless you had to pay some fee to collect the grant.... I dunno, I guess it's possible, but I haven't seen that format - I'd say go for it.

Barry's comment about the infrastructure is important. Many baiters have set up Web sites, ip phone networks, that sort of thing to assist in their baiting. The general idea is that a little work on your part results in a lot of work and heartache on theirs. Plus, that form you created is not just for this lad - you can use it over and over again in many different baits. Overall, the return is well worth the investment in time you've given it.

D'OH! The post has been edited with the correct name. You see, I was thinking about Barry's OLD avatar, and how much I liked that better than.... better than.... what's his name? It wasn't Picard for sure, must have been Piker, no, that doesn't sound right, too much like Riker, so off to some Star Trek sites to remind myself that it was Capt Pike... by the time I got back I was all Star Trekky so of COURSE I was responding to 7/9's post. Total brain fart - could have happened to anybody.

Well, probably couldn't have happened to most people, but that's what happened to me. Sorry, Barry.

Another bit of trivia: Malachi Throne, who provided the voice for one of the Talosians, was also Commodore Mendez in the two part episode that featured Captain Pike.
